A fic with an heroic ( still RENEGADE to teh Max, of course ) Saren pissing the shit off Sheppard ( and being all around a better badass ) would be awesome to read. But an indoctrinated in the alt!Quarian gov would be scary to read. And I suppose they would change the end and Shep, Saren and
Legion ends looking at the space child and telling it to OBSERVE SYNTH AND BIO LIVING IN ( more or less ) HARMONY for 300 f*cking years
( done while singing Ebony and Ivory of course, for the lulz ) How can a intelligent being could believe a several million beings in a single city its the homeworld of a space faring civilization requires a crack fic at least ( or two )
Too bad that the Star-Child will ignore it and still try to destroy them, it's fucking crazy after all, expecting it to act rational or appealing to logic is pointless. If that was the truth then all the more reason for the Turians to act fast and smithe them before they become a threat!
Idea. The Crucible activates, and Commander Shepard's mind and memories are thrown back in time and downloaded into a certain Spectre when he first interfaces with a Prothean beacon. The Spectre in question? Saren Arterius.
What I never understood about Reaper logic is that each cycle is every 50,000 years. However, it only took Humans about 10,000 years to get into space from our first bouts with agriculture. The most primitive species that the Reapers have attacked are a bronze age civilization; they seem to leave pre-agricultural civilizations species. Yet, very strangely, the Asari appear as seemingly the first space-faring civilization, at the very end of the cycle. What the hell happened in the last..45,000 years? I find it very unlikely there was simply a void in space and no one touched anything. Perhaps what happened to these civilizations could be an interesting subject?
They left to go to Andromeda on STL craft to pick up a carton of milk. They'll be back two months after Shepard blows up the Relay network to get all uppity about what those damn kids have done to their stuff while they were out.
It might be more of Reapers include species which have had clear signs of outside interference. Meaning that with the Asari the Protheans were sneaky about it.
Or the Bronze-Age civilization got hit as collateral damage due to Proteans having a base or city hidden on said planet.
I thought the whole point of that was that General Williams Started the war, then surrendered when he got outmatched.
This is actually quite probable; from what we see and Javik says, it seems the Protheans were very active Uplifters, so most of the nearly-ready species must have been fully uplifted and incorporated into the Prothean Empire. What we had left in our cycle was the dregs who were just too primitive to uplift very much (thus Javik's obsession with how primitive we all are). That is to say, there weren't any bronze-age civilizations or anything close LEFT after the Protheans upliftd them.
I'm mostly reading that as an oversight from Bioware, cycles don't repeat every 50,000 years, they end when the younger races achieve a certain level of development, and watching the development of those races is the task of Sovereign. Or if one wants to keep the 50,000 years part, it's that the Reapers via their Sovereign deliberately engineer the tech development so that the ending of a cycle happens precisely 50,000 years after the end of the previous one (crushing fast developing civilisations individually previous to the end of a cycle if necessary).
The 50000 year figure might not be a fixed number. Remember that the Reapers always left one of them, in our cycle's case Sovereign, on watch for signs of advancements. If a species advanced quicker than the average estimate then Sovvy would signal for an early harvest while if things went slow in one cycle then there's no need for a premature reaping.
Another plot bunny. Toombs meets Jack. Possibly while trying to kill Shepard for working with Cerberus. Also, has anyone else ever considered the possibility that Sovereign's indoctrination of the rachni wasn't to try to retake the Citadel but rather to manipulate the Citadel races into slowing their own rate of growth, exactly as they did? Just a thought.
I personally think a Mass Effect/Andromeda fusion would be interesting, although I'm not sure how the logistics of it all would work out. I figure that the Turians would fill the role of Nietzschians and that the Abyss would be the one to create the Reapers, although I can't remember what the fuck was the Abyss's motivation.
By at least a few... no many... really, infinity of magnitudes. Macross 7 just should be consigned to oblivion for the stupidity of existing.
How about this idea? Technically a WH40K crossover, but basically, it's a story strictly from the POV of the SSV Normandy's Machine Spirit. IF it had one.
Me likey. Especially if the Machine Spirit comes to unspoken relationship with Joker, which was why Joker refused to leave the SR-1.
We don't really have evidence that shows that tech development was slowed down by the Rachni war, on the contrary Wars always mean the advancement of military technology.
