Well I lost faith in my brony self, and I rather enjoy Friendship is Magic, but due to this fic, called the Conversion Bureau, I find it ponies now hard to look at without thinking of this evil abomination. To summarize the story just go "IMPERIALISTIC XENOCIDE! HUMAN ARE THE DEVIL! PONIES ARE BETTER THEN US IN EVERY WAY! MAGIC GOOD! TECHNOLOGY BAD! HYPOCRITICAL RACISM!", hell this fic has several spin offs, I know this great one that shows my point.

This is a comedy fic.
It involves the forced transformation of children into ponies, disguised as a party for them, (I am literally crying IRL due to disgust right now), the entire story is the glorification of terrorism. The entire premise of the Conversion Bureau is imperialistic xenocide, they original story writer considers the complete destruction of the human history, science, culture, and media not just something acceptable in the process of turning all humans into ponies, but a good thing!!! The complete destruction of not just a culture, a entire species. Said transformation also mind rapes you into being nicer and less hateful, they say it's removing you're humanity, also a good thing.

This is possibly the only work of fiction that I will say is wrong at every level, worse the cupcakes, worse then the rainbow factory, about pattycakes level on a planetary scale, this grimdark levels even 40k considers to damn grimdark, and unlike 40k, were you think all sides are wrong, this fic thinks it's in the right! Nothing will ever convince me that Conversion Bureau Equestria is good, the ponies are the fucking Draka in this fic! This is like reading a story about how America destroyed the Indians, from the side of the imperialistic Americans! I despise this.

So space battles, what do you think of the fic?

This sort of sentiment crops up all sorts of places. I'm not too surprised that ponies were exposed to it.

Considering that most of us hate the TCB here on SB (and other sites) to the point that we actually hold the Draka above them? The flames of rage we have are strong for this group. The authors themselves are almost all complete nutcases by the way.

Pretty much this. Check the author commentary some time, OP, and you'll actually realize a number of the more prolific ones believe in everything they are writing. While humanity does have some nasty issues to work through, I've noted people to refuse to acknowledge any positive qualities society has, while thinking that casually murdering everyone via brain rape is somehow acceptable because our kind is 'super mega double minus belly-bad'.

My reaction to the scenario in question usually winds up involving the phrase "STRATEGIC LAUNCH DETECTED" at some point.

Geez, that's just sad. And terrifying.

I view it mainly as a waste. The concept of an OCP that threatens to force a paradigm shift on humanity that may or may not erase humanity's very identity is a powerful story. Its a concept that plays on both transhumanist and lovecraftian ideas.

TCB is not this story. TCB is the ponies arriving and going WE ARE YOUR SALVATION THROUGH DESTRUCTION. Having ponies propose it rather than robot cuttlefish is immaterial.

It's nice to know that I'm not alone in my belief.
Want to know the best part? I heard the original author (Blaze or something like that) DESPISES SEASON 2. Mostly due to the Episode with Iron Will, since it shows ponies being assholes, since he can't take ponies can be jerks and aren't a perfect utopia of niceness.

Hell even TVtropes agrees with us, you know how they have only fans talk about the specific work of fiction on their page? The conversion Bureau page talks about the work in a negative way 90% of the time, the other 10% is just other facts, usually also laced with some hatred in them.

Yea tvtropes, the place that seems to have only nice and good things to say about everything (even the troll fic are read with some form of respect and professionalism), has this page written in a way as the only way to read it is with pure hatred/disgust in you're voice.
Also another quote I found from the fic can be read as a pro-lobotomy line
"Now there's nothing wrong with turning into a pony. You lose that 'human nature' that keeps you greedy and selfish, and you become more carefree and friendly."
Tell me that doesn't agree with destruction of parts of the brain that other deem "bad", hell in some ways this would make Discord right in his mind raping of the mane 6.

And now you know why I had a prior interest in running an X-COM vs CB Ponies RP before it got nuked by lack of interest. Life gets a heck of a lot more interesting for xenos worshiping terrorists and government officials once they begin to realize that soldiers and researchers more competent than the strawmen resistance have begun to work against their treachery.

What the CB ponies really need is a visit from a doctor. The Doctor, to be specific. This would prove to be a momentous event for one and Tuesday for the other.

I have a idea in my head for a fic were the enitre imperium with the god emperor reborn wages war on CB Equestria, all of the imperial military, sisters of battle, imperial guard, space marines, assassin, titan legions, Skitarri etc, all of them at once.

You know, it strikes me that this is actually a pretty interesting thought experiment when it comes to our emotional reactions to transhumanism. When offered the possibility of radical transformation into a different sort of being, which resolves longstanding problems with human nature (both biological and psychological in nature), we have a strongly negative emotional reaction.

I'm not saying that reaction is wrong - it's pretty understandable and reasonable - but it has interesting implications for how we think about transhumanism in general.

It's probably the sudden shift. Reasonable transhumanism would be a gradual process, which is much easier to comes to terms with. Baby steps.

Meanwhile, I can assure you that there would be groups of people who would be perfectly fine with us invading a "primitive" alien world and forcibly turning them into humans, brainwashing them by doing so. Equally, there'd be people against it.

Transhumanism doesn't come with mind rape, culture destruction, a fundamentally stuiped statement, and dosen't have us turning you against you're will in the CB becoming a pony alters you're mind, it also comes with the destruction of everything humans have ever made, says technology is destructive at it's core, and has forced transformation

My hate for the MLP conversion Bureau verse has no end.

There would be no such war. From the first moment an Imperial expedition ends up ponified and spouting xeno blasphemies, the scouting fleet's Lord Commander would order an exterminatus to keep the horrible plague from spreading.

Obviously the situation is a bit different, and the word 'transhumanism' covers such a broad umbrella of ideologies that it's difficult to generalise. I just find it interesting - and reasonable - that we have such a powerful instinctive disgust and loathing for the idea of being transformed into radically different beings, even if those beings are within the framework of the hypothesis superior to the beings we are now.

It actually reminds me a bit - and this will seem very weird, I'm afraid - of the nightmarish vision of Heaven in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. The protagonists discuss Heaven and being transformed into angelic beings after death, free of flaws, and changed so that they love all beings equally: and yet this seems utterly repugnant and nightmarish to them.

Well I have them trust the ponies at first, and when the emperor finds out about what happened to the humans, he feels that orbital bombardment is to painless for these monsters, he want's the ponies to know how damned they are, to know, even if they kill 10,000 guardsmen, 100 Sisters of Battle, a space marine, a warhound titan, and a assassin for a single Equestrian Knight, they would still lose, that because they hurt a small part of the human world, the entire empire will come down, and bring justice, slow, painful, thematic, justice.

Willingness and mental changes are big parts of it, the biggest part for me is that they say everything human have ever done is evil, to become us, you will not be aloud any human related object with you if you want to enter, sounds so evil, fascist, and xenophobic it makes any bonus of becoming the new species null, if the other side is so blind that they can't except any part of another group being better then them, they can't be more intelligent then us.

Also lets talk about the other fic I posted, "The Speed Of Right", and how it basically says terrorism is a-ok if you think it's right. For some reason the first chapter kept making me think of the opening to "Act of Valor". You know, were the terrorists use the ice cream truck as a bomb in the school area?

CB is transhumanism without consent or continuity, done in kludgy and blunt manner. Done otherwise, it can be interesting.

You think that's bad? Some of the alternates proposed can be just as horrifying.

There's a Twilight Zone/ Friday the 13th TV Series/Touched By an Angel version where Earth is Hell. Where we as a species had done something so heinous to "deserve" being expunged from existence on death, and only ponies get an afterlife.

There's another where bioterrorists were inspired by the original stories to create a tailored geneplague that effectively makes even the most agressive male on the planet into a Stepford Wife Stereotype. IOW a "magic virus" that does the TCB mindrape without the ponies.

The most positive one I can think of is the one where Celestia and Luna are AIs that are trying to restore earth after an alien/computer virus unleashed a grey goo attack. Unfortunately, the virus got the data cache that told the AIs what their creators looked like, and the nearest thing to the checksum value of "what do our creators look like?" is a video file or archive of MLP FIM. For whatever reason, the most protected part of the cache is the "soul" data for a transhumanist culture...

And then there's the "Humanity Triumphant" where Celestia's still-living head is in a lead-lined box, providing just enough magic to create ponification serum which is used on the "unemployable" to make them "useful." Add rampant corporate greed and "We don't have to pay ponies squat... I see that version of humanity losing out to ponies just because they're so short-sighted that they're diving headlong into an evolutionary population bottleneck.

X-COM vs ponies? X-COM vs Luddite assimilating ponies no less? Why was I not told of this? You can count me in if you manage to gain enough interest to try your hand at running it.

That and ideally there would be no pressure for people to upgrade at all, and definitely no coercion - if people want to stay baseline or just get some mods and not others they should be able to.

I'd like to think that more people would be against humanity's party line being "WE ARE HUMANITY. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE." than for it.

I heard of like half of those (I.E. the first half with the worse ones), the next one is kind of interesting, with the AI and humans being a virus, the last one sounds like the build up of just about every single revolution in the history of revolutions.

From what I read, I would prefer to be locked in a room with the Shrike than those evil ponies!
