Mons, Computers, and Horrible, Horrible Puns (Digimon Fan Fic Ideas)

  1. ThePulse I am incredibly aggravating at times

Before we begin, let me say that I usually stick to the dub versions of Digimon out of nothing but affection for the non-stop bad jokes it makes. I'm sorry if I'm not refined enough to appreciate the original Tamers, but it's just not the same experience without the characters making casual commentary on every silent frame. To me, it just makes them more believable; after all, wouldn't you joke about that stuff if you were trying to cope with giant digital monsters attacking you?

    But to the point.

I actually came up with several Digimon Ideas recently. The first is my idea of a reversal for the usual "Human goes to digital world, gets culture shock" plot.

In this story, it's actually about the "pet" digimon of an afluent human family, who was born and raised in the real world, right in the lap of luxury. The Digital World and Human World are aware of each other at this point, and travel between the two is common. Yet our main 'mon, Fennelmon, a sort of feather-dragon type Digimon, has never even seen the Digital World, and doesn't really care to, as fighting doesn't interest him. In fact, he believes himself to be the only Digimon without any real attacks. Naturally, he gets sucked into the Digital World one day after finding an odd device, with a voice telling him that "his destiny awaits." Upon arriving in the Digital World, he finds himself on a Digifarm; owned by an adult Digimon Tamer and his son.

Fennelmon soon discovers that he can't get back home; the Digital World has somehow been cut off from the real world, and all communication between the two is blocked. This spells danger for the farm as a group of evil Digimon attack; the Boy's father had gone to the human world just before the links were broken, and all that's left is the yet-to-be-named boy, a Gatomon who looks after the house, and Fennelmon.

Suddenly, portagonist-boy discovers the device Fennelmon had found. With its powers, he is able to transform Fennelmon into several different forms, bearing similarities to several familiar Digimon partners. This also has the side effect of making Fennelmon kick ass like it's nobody's business.

Reluctantly, Fennelmon stays at the Digifarm, at least until communications between the two worlds are restored and he can go home. But sinister forces are plotting something...but what does Fennelmon have to do with it? And what of the mysterious Mod Changer, the form-changing device that seems to work on only Fennelmon?

I've been thinking the title would be something like "Digimon Country" to fit in with the whole GREAT OUTDOORS theme.
    Kishou the Badger likes this.

@ThePulse: Sounds like a cool idea!

Sadly, I don't really have much time for fanfiction these days. But I had a few strange ideas for Digimon.

Oneof them is a strange little tale of Gatomon and Patamon. I don't want to give any details, but it does show how eccentric cats can be, as well as the relationship between the two characters.

I've also considered something else: What if Digimon was written in a style of 80's Cyberpunk? Instead of saving the world, the main characters are anti-heroes, living in a decaying world.
  3. It could also fit into shadow run as well
  4. Stormwind Yuusha Destron

The most obvious Digimon crossover ideas? Rockman.EXE/Megaman Battle Network/NT Warriors or Ryusei no Rockman/Megaman Star Force.
  5. Another natural crossover would be .hack. It would be especially interesting if, due to different dimensions, the Digimon visitors to the World do not realize at first its connection to the real world.
  6. Cody Fett Transitional Phrase Nut

For crossover idea? How about Chalk Zone and Cyberchase? Those are pretty close to the Digimon formula already.
  7. @Cataquack Warri

I once had the idea of crossing over .Hack with Digimon. But there was a major difference. Human Players in the World get transferred into the Digital World. They would have the skills the have in the game, but would not be able to even scratch anything above Adult(Champion) Level. Now have said characters freaking out over whether they die in the Digital World they die in the Real World, or even if they can can return to their original bodies, entrance to the Digital World may very well have permanently severed their consciousness from their real bodies. And of course some of those in brought into the Digital World might not want to get their original forms back, preferring their idealized avatars to their less than perfect human bodies. Add this to the drama of having to save the Real and Digital Worlds and you have the makings of a good story.

Hell you could just use the whole human conscious in a VR game sent to the Digital World idea on it's own if you don't want a crossover with .Hack and design your own setting for the VR Game.

If anyone wants to use this idea feel free to take it, I have got many other things I need to do, as such I have nowhere near the time to even attempt to write this. Plus I don't think I have the necessary skills to pull it off. Writing a story based on this idea would be difficult due to the drama involved in such a story.

I'm VERY interest and am asking questions to tease out more story and ideas.
Hmm, why no bond with his originals? No communication or no travel? how does this manifest? Are there other ranchsteads or pioneers/colonist communities or an organization that can run them. In absence of the connection to their real world what will the stranded tourists and residents do? How dependent are they on the shipping of goods and services to the farm (can the human eat anything or the digimon. What info or other resources does he have access to? Why is this here? What will it be used for?)

You know what needs to be done: A future history showing how contact with Digimon totally changes human society.

The existance of Digimon would prove a interesting stimuli: Paraellel Universes exist, the phsilsophical nature of Life regardins Data-based lifeforms, do Digimon have souls?, Science would have a heyday, the military would have to adapt to a new form of cyberspace warfare.

In addition, humanity would have to deal with social issues regarding Digimon. if every human had a partner, how would this change society as a whole?

Another idea is having a worldbuild of a Digital World. The Digital world in the series are rather undeveloped, leaving many details unanswered. If there's a digimon for every human, how do Digimon grow enough food to support 6Billion of their kind? And so on.
  10. If you use the shadow run idea the digimon would be computer spirits
  11. Tai Falkenburg Alleluia!

I'm not too familar with Shadowrun, except that's it's Cyberpunk meets World were magic has reawakened. But from what I've seen, Digimon would make a fine fit.
  12. Talos Spatula-Proof Sorcerer

A great fanfic idea I've always sat on but never had the time to actually was a continuation of the main 01/02 series but with a much darker outlook (as in Tamers) Naturally, it disregards how 02 ended. So everyone didn't get a Digimon but MaloMyotismon WAS defeated by the combined efforts of all of the Chosen Children. The portal to the Digital World was sealed and everyone goes back to their own worlds...

Except its not over; the Digital World has undergone massive trauma in the form of first the Digimon Emperor and then BlackWarGreymon's frequent rampages and even after that, MaloMyotismoin was practically stripping the place to the bone to provide power. So the Digimon go home to find it absolutely nothing like when they left.

It still looks the same, but the data that makes up the deepest layer has been corrupted and as such, ''evil'' Digimon arise much more frequently, Devimon, Myotismon etc all are capable of hatching now instead of having to be a Angemon who fell.

The Partnered Digimon decide that its down to them to save the world, but without their partners they can no longer Digivolve to a higher level, they're stuck with what they have. Most of them are merely champions with only two megas (WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon)

The first ''arc'' of the story would revolve around them trying to fix the corrupted data of the Digital World. There would be action, of course, as many of the evil Digimon have bound together to prey on those weaker than themselves but the heroes would also need to be subtle. Without the ability to Digivolve if they get in over their heads it really could be the end for them. They would need to use their reputations as heroes of the Digital World, their allies that they had made throuought both series and not a small bit of luck before they even came close to realising just how screwed they are.

The arc ends with the Partnered Digimon being ambushed by a strange new foe and being scattered to the four corners of the new Digital World as the evil Digimon tells of how at the start of the Digital World four great Digimon were sealed away forever but now that the code has been compromised they can be released

And that's pretty much what I got so far, always been meaning to write it but never got beyond the first chapter.
  13. YourOwnFantasy Who you lookin' at?

An idea I've always been pondering on is how different Tamers would have been if Guilmon and Takato decided not to go with the others to the Digital World.
  14. Seiya The Star Field

Plotmon's for some reason (maybe desperate for a form to hide the eyes, Vamdemon hates so much) evolves into Fairymon instead of Tailmon. She becomes the soldier whose ass has launched a thousand ships.
  15. ThePulse I am incredibly aggravating at times

-The story goes on to describe how Fennelmon never really had a close bond with his owner; he was more a priveleged pet than an owner. Didn't stop him from hitting on human girls any chance he got, though.
-Both. The Digital World gets completely cut off; they have no idea what's going on in the other world.
-Human colonies are dotted across the Digital World, not to sure about government setup, though
-Most people try to carry on as best as they can until the problem is fixed; the Digital World runs on the power of Iaintgottaexplainshitium, so they can make do by themselves.
  16. Seiya The Star Field

    Fixed and Edited!

During a very long conversation between Aarik and me. Him mentioning he estimated the digital world was around 40,000 and I believing every season excluding 02 actually came before the previous one ironed out a timeline connecting all the seasons together using information from the cards/games/manga/anime.

  17. Ia ctually had my own .Hack x-over with digimon 03... which incidentaly is my default season for Digimon ideas with the assumption the Tamers eventually reunited with their partners and cna travel to the digital world semi-freely.

Essentially Yamaki starts to investigate the rumors of CyberConnect Corp. and how players of its game 'the world' are ending up in comas... but is blocked by his superiors to drop the case.

So instead Yamaki 'encourages' the Tamers to go visit there partners in teh digital world... and if they just 'happened' to investigate the area of the digital world corresponding to 'the world' game... well thats hardly his FAULT is it?

Set shortly before the minianime where the World literally shuts down one of th emajor cities in Japan (and the charcter in the short had to escape from a automated mall).

A different track, a while back I think I posted some musings on trying to x-over season 03 with Cthulutech... and how Digimon might upset the balance of power for all sides...
  18. Seiya The Star Field

Rough Idea of a 03/05 that never really got anywhere.

Due to Kurata and his Biohybrids being put in charge of the Digimon front and the Members of DATS on the run from their own goverment. Captain Satsuma decide to break out the former head of DATS predecessor, Hypnos leader Mitsuo Yamaki.

When the D-Reaper incident was over six years earlier. The Japanese Goverment decided to sweep it under the rug as quickly as they could. Arresting all the members of the Monster Makers, Yamaki, Reika and Megumi. Due to the Tamers ages, it was decided erasing their memories was the best.

Due to their lack of members the members of DATS make it their number one priority to track and relocate these legendary tamers. But The tamers have moved on not remembering the bonds they once shared and their former friendships. Ruki, has become more closed off. Takato, is still pining after his "Katou-san" and Jen has become bitter to the goverment that took his father away and embarassed their family name. They've grown up, they've moved away and their not all willing to hear DAT'S words especially when Kurata is offering a position at his side too.
  19. Tai Falkenburg Alleluia!

The only problem I have with this, is well, the D-Reaper having invaded the entire world in the series. Kind of hard keeping that all secrect.
  20. Nanao-kun Beauty Queen Etna

So is it a fact now that as time goes on, evolution becomes harder and harder for digimon?
  21. Seiya The Star Field

Planned to handwave it with brutal, brutal use of DAT's amnesia tech.
  22. Zelinko Indexing The Index

Of course they've got a few B-2s with mysterious flight logs of things that apparently didn't happen.
  23. Aranfan Metroid food

So I've looked up Plotmon's evolutions. What if she had evolved into Black Tailmon instead?
  24. Tai Falkenburg Alleluia!

    And tons of newspaper reports.

The personal written journals of millions.

A number of photographs already printed of said D-Reaper.

Statilite and observational data from the various known and unknown Intelligence agencies.

Hiding stuff that happened on a Global Level takes a heck alot more resources than fighting a war, and Japan certainly doesn't have the resources to do all this.

Instead, I would suggest that they didn't cover the D-Reaper incident up, but make up a cover story that whitewashed the incident. The events happened, but not the offical story is different than what really happened.
