Yes, that is a crossover, and yes I wrote it when I was nineteen and should've known better. In the six years since I wrote it, I've seen a major improvement in my writing- both stylistically and technically- I have improved significantly across the board.

But I don't base that improvement on the number of reviews or pageviews I get (although they certainly help).

I base it on how well it reads- because, yes, I read my own fanfics.


Not many authors do- and I'm pretty sure I know why. By the time you're finished writing, proofing, editing (I only write, I don't proof or edit lol) and post the final product, you're usually sick of the material- or at least that material you worked on. Writers look forward- rarely back.



So of course, my 'editing' stage usually happens about a day after I've posted something, where I go back and read through it as though this were a fic I'd found as a prospective reader. From that perspective, it's easier to find mistakes, to improve the literary flow, and ultimately enjoy it.


I write for three reasons. Because I enjoy writing, I enjoy reading (what I've written), and because it pleases me when others enjoy what I've written.


But I'll always remember that when I started, I was extremely bad at it.
