  1. BeRzErKeR Indigent Madman

Adding up all the d20s listed in the last update plus 24 from the HMS's that we built, I'm getting 224.

    100+24+25+25+25+17+5+3=224
  2. I just recounted your industry and I'm getting 220, do you know what I'm missing?

I might have given you too many dice last turn (how horrible, right? :p)
  3. Seriously folks, you guys have been neglecting warship building since the beginning, we are at war right now, so we need alot more ships.
  4. In the turn 32 we received 23 HMS, and we had 176d20 available (177d20-1d20 penalty) 177+23=200
Also at that time in the update thread our Industrial capacity was listed as 177d20.

    Edit:
Nice plan but I would change some details

    112d20+112: Moar HMS.

    25d20: Biolasers.

    25d20: Eezo integration.

25d20: Research militarized HMS (HMS which would produce new batch of units each turn)

    25d20+Sagan: Predictive Research Modeling.

13d20: fighters production, we probably want to wait with capital ship production until lasre technology is complete.
  5. Forgothrax Healer of All

Edited to just build fighters this turn. No use building capital ships until we have biolasers to arm them with. I've yanked 5d20 out of hyperspace and eezo research both so we'll produce 22000 fighters this turn-- almost 50% of our total complement. Add in 1400 or so from combat carriers.
  6. BeRzErKeR Indigent Madman

Sounds better to me. Dedicating 10% of our capacity to military production sounds like a good general rule, honestly. Hell, it's only half what the US spends on the DoD, and we DO want to be a superpower.

    So, in general, our fixed costs would be;

    50% to industry

    10% to military

Leaving 40% to be dedicated to research and miscellaneous expenses.
  7. The basics of Forgothrax planes seems OK. Still has 4d10 unused.

We could suggest to the council use our FTL telepathy for aid in coordination.
By stationing Diplomat monkeys in fleets we could increase communication speed, and thereby response times.

We should also mention/spread to the Citadel that we are glad that our "mothers" escaped the Krogans implying that we are largely nomadic.

Where is the "garden world" located in relation to citadel space?
If it's closer I suggest we latter trade it to the
Quarians. By trade i do not necessarily only mean ezero or goods but also treaties and agreements.
It would be good if we could safely get citadel races to aid us with research, as we know that will give us a huge research boost.
But the safety part will require time.

    Questions about hyper space:

    * Does the constant jumps our HMS use to gather resources take a noticeable amount of energy?
    * Would it be possible for a creature to "push" another creature out from or into hyperspace?
  8. We've lost count of how much dice we should have; By quick look over previous turns, we should have either 223d20 or 224d20. I'll settle for current 220d20 so to not drag the game down.

Remind Steve how Citadel reacted to our mentions of Reapers before. However, Arks are good idea, and something we will do someday. Maybe. Eventualy. :)
Assure Sasha that we will assign minimum of 5% of our industrial capacity to fleet from now on.
Point to Sagan that we generaly use at least 30% of our capability for research every turn.

    EDIT :
Quarian immune system is not really deficient but rather too specialised; IIRC, it is simbiotic and integrates foreign microbes into it's functions. That work for Rannoch, but not for rest of the galaxy. Can we develop strain of bacteria that would integrate into Quarian bilogy without harm and attack all harmful microbes, acting as white blood cells? Basicaly, turn Quarian immune system into galactic standard, without genetic rewriting.
  9. before we build massive amounts of fleet lets do a important overhaul and structural doctrine change.

A modular design paradigm. one that lets us remove subsystems easily and replace them with others, and with a adaptor allows technological devices of the citadel type to be lego-ed in too (just in case we have to use our Citadel shipyards for extra armour or stuff to maximize output).

This way when we update the fleet it wont cost us more than building said newer systems and devices, since swapping them will be a piece of cake, done in the time of a routine maintenance or refuelling.
  10. Drakk? You apparently managed to lose three HMS somewhere. :)

By T28 we had total of 122d20 of industry; Counting fifteen L4 upgraded planets, HMS build and one lost die, we should have 223d20 available.

    EDIT
    More detailed breakdown :
    • Turn 28
      • Start with 122d20
      • +13 from upgrades to L4
    • Turn 29
      • +12 from HMS built
      • +1 from upgrade to L4
    • Turn 30
      • +8 from HMS built
      • +1 from upgrade to L4
      • +2 from Mothership Cluster
    • Turn 31
      • -1 from Krogan bombardment
      • +18 from HMS built
    • Turn 32
      • +23 from HMS built
    • Turn 33
      • +24 from HMS built
Total : +15 from upgrades to L4, -1 from downgrade to L2, +2 from MC and +85 from HMS.

Oops. Krogan, of course. Unless it was Krigans?

    ....Krigan? ∑(O_O )
  12. Leoric Go away

Steve can go suck it when it comes to joining the Citadel. There are almost no benefits in the long run from the hive joining them all out and alot of penalties.

Also do we have any diplomonkeys attached to the migrant fleet at this point? If not i sugest we send an unarmed transport with 2-3 diplomonkeys over to them so we dont fall out of touch if we get besieged.

Also: open the closed relay and try to track the ship if it comes back.
  13. I don't really understand why so many people are so vehemently anti-citadel. We are probably going to want them around and as strong as possible for when the reapers come. It isn't like they can really restrict us either, seeing as we can hide anything they wouldn't like in hyperspace.

  14. actually a small diplomonkey compound on every planet or location of note in citadel space to ensure permanent communications would be a good idea.

on Ilos, Thessia, Sur'Kesh, Palaven, and a any major planet or outpost actually, to have eventually diplomonkeys wherever there is a citadel presence. - real time TV from all citadel locations is a great way to monitor collector and reaper activity, in case it comes to that.
  15. Leoric Go away

We are not anti-Citadel. We are anti-joining the Citadel which is very different.

Alot of rules and beliefs held by the Citadel would hinder us greatly if we became a member. We gain more by simply being a friendly neighbour then a friendly live in. We do want the Citadel to be as strong as it possibly can be.
  16. Not if I get to it first. ;)

My proposal, based on Forgothrax's plan :
    Total of 223d20+8d10 available.
    1. Industry
      • 112d20+112 : Build HMS.
        • Neither snow nor rain nor orbital strikes stays Hive industry from swift completion of it's appointed tasks!
    2. Research
      • 25d20 : Biolasers.
      • 25d20+Sagan : Predictive Research Modeling.
        • Ability to estimate on how long research will take would be nice if possible.
      • 20d20 : Eezo integration.
      • 12d20 : Blind jump reasearch.
    3. Military
      • 20d20 : Build fighters.
      • 5d20+Steve+Sasha+CBG 1-4 : Form a fleet under command of Sasha; They are to track down and capture Collector ship as intact as possible.
        • Comrad Hivemind's orders:/Serve me Cruiser on the plate/Disregard the loses/Collector ship is ours to take!
      • 4d10+CBG 5-8+Army/Transports : Seconded to Citadel for the war against Krogans.
        • 4d10 is to be used for resupply (buying *food* so that carriers are free for offensive operations) and maintenance/reload of MACs.
        • Work with Citadel startegists on the optimal uses for our crafts and soldiers; Be conservative on how much we reveal to Citadel about our capabilities.
      • 4d20+CBG 9-12+all free ships : Escorts and patrols.
        • Make sure that at least few Diplomonkeys are on each convoy.
    4. Misc
      • 4d10+2 Shipyards+2 Factories : Quarian trade route.
        • Help them expand their industry/mining capability.
  17. Goldenlima Statistical Anomaly

Can we build some GSV's for the Arc Project sometime soon. Steve has a point, we really are too clustered.
  18. actually now that i think about it our diplomonkeys could serve as instant post. considering that the hive is one, we can relay a message from one end of the citadel to another without risk of interception or lag.

I say we start a postal service regarding messages and credit transfer.... at least one diplomonkey for every citadel planet, station and ship!

They will be the new ATM with text and audio post included.
  19. Multiple reasons why they wouldn't go for it, I'll list two :
    1. Bandwidth going to by abysmall, making it impractical for civilian use.
    2. Military/Commercial runs into the fact that Hive will know contents of message. Even encoded, it would be too much of the risk for me, and I doubt that Citadel will think differently; And anything non-sensitive can be sent over using already existing and relaible methods.
  20. considering QE comms are prohibitly expensive, and that banks already know your money transfer data, it should be workable.

I dont really want them to be sometihng to get us revenue or something citadel society hinges uppon. just something that is so spread out that we basically have full survielance of all citadel assets, so that when they get assaulted by collectors or reapers we can survey it and map it.
  21. DakkaMania Techpriest

While stupid for general purposes, the comms service does have a point. Either we just don't tell them that the organic computer in there is actually part of the hivemind and tells us everything (failsaves against reverse engineering included) or we just use it where discreet communications are required. Like military scout actions. Or communications between fleet elements moving against the Krogans.

HiveNet is impossible to evasdrop on and has a utterly vast intelligence backing it up. Bandwidth is easy to solve as well. Develope a cybernetic interface connecting to regular computers and they can send as much information as they want. Bandwidth shouldn't be a problem either considering what amount of data the Hive is already handling.

As a funny sideeffect, criminal organisations are likely to make extensive use of this system, giving us a complete view of underworld communication.

Downside is that the Citadel can study telepathy in depth and no fail-safe is infallible. If it is discovered that we are listening in on all communications, we'd take a diplomatic hit as well.
  22. I worded it badly, again.

    Let me try again :
    • Such "Monkeynet" is, by definition, a joint project. Not only we'll have to provide 'Monkyes, but the Citadel have to agree to use them.
      • First is a fact that already existing network are superior in every way to what you propose.
      • Secondly, we would know everything they send; And unlike Inner Sphere, Citadel powers have two braincells to rub together and realise that anyone who have "in" on their communications, will make use of it.
QE comms, while highly expensive are perfectly secure, unless their users are drooling idiots.

    EDIT :
Blackboxed technology that operates on principles unknown to us? Of course they aren't going to include data taps, the whole idea is preposterous. :p

I can see limited use for military purposes, however Remulian proposed Citadel-wide net, and that something they are highly unlikely to go for.

And do we really want to get rep similar to Batarians? Not to mention that again, nobody going to send anything remotely sensitive or incrimination over comm that they *know* is being monitored and recorded.
  23. Technically we are not listening in. we are relaying a message. Just like how telling a person to go tell another person something cannot be accused of eavesdropping.

and while for internal Hive use a cybernetic interface for analogue data like citadel sensors and other stuff might be nice, id rather not give them direct access to it.

how about a different approach? dipomonkeys get photographic memory and we develop a bioprinter and high def 3d screening unit. for the receiver end of it. since it already goes through the brain of a diplomonkey they already should know we the hive will be aware of it, so coding it would be nice. - of course we could go research code algorithms and code cracking like mad, considering the amount of dice we will be throwing around, especially considering our brainpower, no code or encryption will be safe from us...

edit: citadel dose not have to agree with it. we offer it as a private service to anyone who wants it. - providing it at dirt cheap prices since its a marginal to non-significant income source for us, we could be quite competitive for the low to mid cost message couriers. - and not everyone has the money for a QE.
mid to low level secure transmissions that are non critical to citadel security (military and super rich sure as hell wont use monkey net. but low level thugs, and paranoid starting businessmen and people not wanting to be snooped by the shadow broker)
  24. Or we could be open with the fact that we can (do not mention that we always will) listen in on the communication. And simply offer the service for the cases where speed and reliability is more important.
In any fleet action against the Krogan this should be a good idea for them as they know that we wont leek information to the Krogan.

For a immediate effect simply suggest a diplo monkeys in every fleet fighting the Krogans.
  25. Citadel will (correctly) interprete this as planting the spy network. Do you really want to open this particular can of worms?

Also, transmissions *will not* be secure. They'll *know* that we'll keep copy; Even if we wouldn't actually do that, nobody would believe us.
