Primarchs ooc thread

Discussion in 'A BROB is for you! - For all your Roleplaying Need' started by Skelron, Apr 30, 2011.

  1. I am leaving but I wanted to say a few things before then through even if I am not... set to continue at this point I don't see a reason to ruin the roleplay for those still interested with a massive ooc argument in the middle of the ic so here a new thread.

Okay this then was the plan of my forces, and the reasoning. Jumping from hotspot to hotspot from a Moonbase on high would achieve nothing, the people doing so where simply responding to the concerns of the superpowers of the world and following the Media. It was doomed to failure as they rushed to the latest big cause and ignored the decade long wars that get far less TV time and have a much higher cost.

Was my guy nice in what he did, no did he bring change no, trying to play from up high he felt was a waste of time, so he went for resources gathering it from the people of Earth that he would eventually seek to destroy. Then rather than play nice and try and get a corrupt system on side he would... create his own world order, change it through war and conquest and ruling over territory and the like directly. Hence why he was creating a Garrison force and other such forces to move in after his men, when winter came this would start by attacking Siberia, during the dead of winter and literally forging his own empire, to slowly swallow up the world under one flag and one rule, creating his own utopia through the blood of the old ways, remaking the world.

That was the plan, so yes the calling of my forces and my own characters actions and emtions based on a 'High ideals of the imperium' argument was quite frnkly annoying, especially when it was told they had a plan and then again that this was a temporary measure. That it hadn't been shared with outsiders is not a surprise and was why I had not revealed it but frankly meh the thread got boring when the costs of the Imperium where handwaved away so that we could have baby making Marines and only adults changed.
  2. Your posts were quite vague and made to appear that you purely intent on getting resources for yourself. And you withheld information which made the GM had to deduce your intent and make judgment calls with with vague information. If you don't tell your Marines your plans, then they won't understand why they're being mercenaries.

I'm of a slightly similar opinion, it dissolved a bit too fast, and I partially disagree with Star's ruling but at the same time its not impossible for marines to turn against their primarch

  4. In fairness to Skelron, I also agree with you that doubt set into his Marines rather quickly which I noted. I think they would of been more confused rather then frustrated.
On the other hand...Skelron's Marines were fighting children soldiers so he could get child soldiers his own...
And I don't see any actions of Skelron of actuality ending/resolving those conflicts, merely profiting off of them.
  5. Imperator Pax Talon Master

To be fair a lot of marines were child soldiers, in fact a great number of them are by our standards, take especially the Great Crusade era Dark Angels, and the modern Space Wolves in particular
  6. Point. Some chapters even have brutal gladiator worlds for their recruits. Aren't modern Space Wolves recruits older then most of their counterparts? Salamanders are likely the only ones who are older(who keep their wives I believe).
Though, that is why I asked about the age of recruits. If it would be possible that somewhat older people are possible since most of the world heavily frowns on 17- soldiers(which make recruiting for us difficult).
  7. Imperator Pax Talon Master

I think the youngest Space Wolves recruits are 12 and 13, but the average is 15-17 with 18-20 not unheard of I thin Ragnar was 16 or 17 when he was recruited
  8. Isn't an average of 15-17 actually kinda late? Lexicanum notes that the average recruits becomes a brother at age 16-18 years which suggest they recruit even younger children on average.

  9. Imperator Pax Talon Master

Compared to the others yeah, but the space wolves, Salamanders, and the Blood Angels are noted for recruiting later than (I don't know about the Dark Angels) others.
  10. The other thing to note is for instance with the Space Wolves the people they pick, have already come to the choosers of the slains attention before they recruit them. That is they take people in the midst of puberty who have already distinquished themselves in battle. Thats fairly young to start. Yes things where not spelt out in the thread, nor should they have to be.

Space Marines are meant to be made during the period of puberty when the body is already undergoing changes, the process steals onto that period. It was what originally led me to go after the child soldier approach and felt it was already set when the OP swopped to 'Well 18 is made the new point' *sigh shrugging* meh nevermind tis over.
  11. I'm pretty sure he meant that we recruit that old if we wanted.
