I have an idea for the raid, but first I have to ask...how NBC Rated are the Power Armors?

I can't remember if I explicitly mentioned that, but I would say they should all be NBC rated, and technically able to operate underwater or in vacuum, though they'd all need air supplies if it was longer-term.

Bio and Chem won't do crap. Nuclear... they can fight in the aftermath of a strike, if that's what you're asking.

If your thinking of nuking them I'd say it feels a bit of a waste to do so on just gate defenses.

That is exactly what I'm sayin', we should be able to make relatively cheap Nukes by now, so we should be able to hit the gate defences with one, and swoop in after the blast. The way Thrax described the defences, it sounds like it's eather that or orbital raids.

May I ask, what gives you that Idea? You still need to find material for the nukes and to manufacture them. As far as I know, you only have those you brought with you.

I'll leave this whole thing about if we have the materials for you and Forgo to decide together.

You have nukes. Making normal (non-enhanced) nukes is a design roll; you'll get designs for naqnukes in the next projectile weapons update.

Forget nuking base defenses (especially since Protectorate worlds might have villages nearby).

We just need to rig up a giant plasma cannon and keep firing for a while, then send a probe through.

Other way around. The "nuke" in a naqnuke is just present to "pump" the naquadah and get it to explode. You could replace the nuke with a big conventional explosion (like a glob of C9000) and you'd still get a mighty big boom, though it wouldn't be anywhere near a naqnuke. It'd be mostly clean, too.

Thrax, can we design a C-9000 Explosive that will clear out the projected base defences without damaging any theoreticall civilian populations.

Perhaps some micro missiles to bombard the other side into dust. After all we can fit more of them through the gate in one go than normal missiles.

Sure, if you had a map of the projected base defenses, which you don't. You can guess, but your guesses could under or over-estimate significantly. And a Core World, or even a high-level Protectorate, will have an iris.

Works, after you deal with the iris.

Well, the thing with explosives and missiles is, if it's buried or has an iris, they'll never materialize.

But with an energy weapon, we're pushing energy directly through, and can/will overwhelm it eventually. Or, if it's buried, punch a hole through to open air.

Guess i should have mention that it was a idea to be used after we burned through the iris.

Perhaps send a barrage of micro missiles to cover for a drone to be sent through to help provide better targeting data and a look at the size of the site allowing us to use a dial-a-yield device ( Nuclear or non-Nuclear ) to blast the needed area.

Ok, I'll conceed that an Energy Weapon is good for Gate Breaching, I suggest we make a Large Plasma Repeater Cannon for just such operations.

Which tech would the gate destroy that Anubis used fall under?

It would probably be a special weapon you would need to design and build, but it would most likely need a high level in Material, Weapons, and Power.

Question to GMs: What are Whisker Lasers, and how would they work?

Whisker laser is a thin tight band laser that is used to transmit a signal. While it's range is only line of sight it can only be intercepted if someone intercepts the beam itself, which is unlikely. It can also be sent thorough a Gate.
