    Turn 30:
  2. Leon89 One punch is sometimes to much.

Alright guys we need to figure out what we are doing. I think we should talk to the SGC to see what they are doing and to see in what way we can help.

Even if we did try to do a sting on Maybourne I doubt we would get him, though I think we should at least try anyways. We might get something valuable for doing it anyways.

    Some thoughts:

-We can send a robotic assault force to either Reach or our Oort cloud base and have them begin dialing the Gate to the NID's world continuously. They're unlikely to open it any time soon but we might get lucky. This, or we need to have the SGC start dialing. We have a DHD (I assume) so we can dial faster, which might be better. Either way, we need to provide some serious muscle to back up the SGC. Thoughts?

-I think the consensus is against sending our tel'tak to assault the NID's world; unless it's within a couple hundred LY we'd never get there soon enough anyway. If we could send an assault force, do we want to reveal that we have a tel'tak, or do we want to try a complicated plan in which we unblock the NID's gate without revealing ourselves?

-Do we know where the NID offices are in Washington? Is it worth considering slipping a few Tachi's in there for data mining and potentially trying to kidnap some NID assets? We might get lucky and get Maybourne. Heck, EVA has a tap in government systems back when we were trying to find out about Weston; let's see if she can get in and get us some data. Also on that note, let's interrogate Weston the old fashioned way. Shall we take the gloves off on this one?

-Kumo's idea ordering the NID to fall back to their safe houses on Earth (if we know where they are) might work, if we can move an assault force fast enough to those safe houses and are sure that we know where all of them are.

-Let's not go overboard on mind ripping. Unless we want to disappear anyone we mind rip (in this case, Maybourne) they'll probably know that we cyberized them, or it may show up on a brain scan. Thus, anyone we mind rip has a good chance of informing the US government that we can do so, and that might not end very well.
  4. Kumoatsu Lord of Squirrels!

I think your miss understanding just about everything that has been put up so far.

    1. They have DHD's also. Why do you think they wouldn't?
    3. Weston is a vegetable. He has no memory in him at the moment.
    4. My idea is to have the people off planet ordered to retreat to safe bases. While having our units already there and ready to attack as soon as the gate finishes sending people through.
    5. Its nanites. If anything just have them ordered to deconstruct themselves upon completion. They should only then pick up a slightly higher metal count in the blood.
  5. Forgothrax Healer of All

The SGC does not have a DHD. We do. Thus, we can dial faster than the SGC can.

Ahh, so the memory rip removes memories, and doesn't just copy them? Noted. Didn't see anything in the IC stating that he was a vegetable so I assumed we could interrogate him the old fashioned way.

It seems... odd... that anything making significant changes to the brain would leave little visible change, but ooook.
  6. Kumoatsu Lord of Squirrels!

    1. How is that relevant when trying to dial to the NID bases? In fact that is just plain wrong since they got the quick dial program installed.

    2. You can have it copy it if you want. Or it could just turn his brain into a smoothie. Or it could just copy it and not leave noticable marks.
  7. Deepthroat One Of Your Fans

Where did you get that from? Seth died from symbiote poison released during the memory copy process and Weston is in a coma. I don't recall anything about the process leaving the victim braindead.
  8. Forgothrax Healer of All

Medically induced coma? Excellent. Time to dig out the naloxone.
  9. Forgothrax Healer of All

So, with Deep's permission I'm going to try to interrogate Weston. I doubt we'll get any info but it's worth at least a shot. Any suggestions on methodology? I'm thinking to slowly pull him out of the coma and shoot him up with interrogation drugs-- I doubt it'll be that effective, but we have minimal options.
  10. Kumoatsu Lord of Squirrels!

If we can put up a hologram to make you look like maybourne and modulate your voice to sound like his I can toss my support behind that.
  11. Forgothrax Healer of All

That combined with low-dose benzodiazepines or similar (aka, truth serum though not as clear cut as that description might suggest) might work, yes, and Deep's going to let me try to go through his memories for any identification procedures, his real name, his rank, etc. Whether or not I succeed at that is up to the dice.

I was also thinking, as a risky procedure, of having EVA fab me a robot Goa'uld replica in a tank and tell Weston that we've got a suborned Goa'uld that we can just stick in him and get access to all his secrets. I'm also considering telling him that we're from an alternate quantum mirror reality and that our tech is from there, and the NID unleashed a race similar to the Wraith on the galaxy due to their shennanigans, so we're here as refugees trying to stop the NID from doing something equally stupid.
  12. Kumoatsu Lord of Squirrels!

Save those for after and only after.

    -EDIT-

Also I think I will change my new tech for the Diplomacy/Charisma boost.
  13. Forgothrax Healer of All

    Oh well, that failed.

*sigh* OK guys, what's our next move? Hit the NID's offices with stealthed Tachis to place taps in their computers and see if we can kidnap any high-rankers?
  14. Deepthroat One Of Your Fans

*Winces* Sorry about that, Forgo, but those rolls were really bad.
  15. Forgothrax Healer of All

S'ok. I wasn't anticipating getting anything out of the bugger anyway, and it's not like we can't decode his memories next month anyway. Shoot him back up with barbituates and keep him on ice 'til we get around to him again.

And this way, at least, we know that he doesn't have thorough knowledge of the Stargate program. That, or he's just really good at hiding it.
  16. Durabys Your little Eldritch feline demon..meow!

Maybe we should build two super computer systems with Smart AI's and go to decode those memories from Weston and Setesh, no? We have the money to build such a thing.
  17. Deepthroat One Of Your Fans

It wouldn't work. It's not a matter of processing power. Human memories can only be read and understood by a human mind. Only a developed human mind has the structure and context to understand the captured data. To a computer, even one as advanced as ours, it's just chemical processes and neuron firings to locations that don't exist and data in forms that it can't quantify.
  18. Durabys Your little Eldritch feline demon..meow!

Can I transfer my in-game characters mind into- and merge my body with- a quantum computer ala Hyron Project from DX:HR?
  19. walkir Aewab Lurker

    "VIIII"?

Deep, do our superconductors have potential as a basis for newer intercontinental cables with higher bandwidth than the existing ones?

Okay, how to redo my action...
  20. Forgothrax Healer of All

I think we'd need mind-uploading tech for that, Durabys, and we need you in the flesh right now.

So, people, thoughts on our next action for the special turn before we start thinking about the next turn?
  21. Deepthroat One Of Your Fans

Theoretically you can merge with an AI, but it won't be an easy (or gentle) process. It will require extensive (and highly dangerous) augmentation, and that's just the first step. If things go wrong during the integration process... well, see what happened to Zhao at the end.

Yes to the first question (we are at number 9, after all) and conceivably yes to the second, though optical computing will require it be fibre optics rather than superconductors (which actually works out better since superconducters are still sensitive materials).
  22. walkir Aewab Lurker

Knowing he didn't know Maybourne or what a Goa'uld is are interesting factoids, even if it is completely useless at the moment.

Perhaps we can EVA have follow the money trail while you try further interrogations. She's worked as a corporate AI for long enough to have gained some skill and knowledge at doing that kind of thing.
Do we have more data than what Weston just offered us, or does everything we knew beforehand fit into what he remembers?

    ##

The cable idea was for our intenet ventures, which I'm formulating a plan for at the moment. I at least want us to have a backbone between our corporate holdings to guarantee secure communication, and don't really like the idea of using subspace comms to communicate through Earth (while sats are right out as the Goa'uld would just use them as target practice).

Oh, and it's just I somehow expected a IX. ;)
  23. yeah, you need to get Eclipse phase mind uploading, editing, RPing and forking. they will be extremely useful.

If i am not mistaken someone does have Eclipse phase, dont they?

also, walkir, satellites are just fine. for one thing it puts more ablative shielding for laser sats, for another its one more way to camouflage them under new internet satellite excuse, and not break disclosure and answer too many questions if well designed.

and if the goa;uld are at the picking off satellites stage, we have already failed since they are in the glass earth phase too, so the cable is superfluous and a bad investment.
  24. Forgothrax Healer of All

There's always the option of trying to reveal to him the truth about what's going on and seeing if we can shock him into compliance. Though I doubt a veteran CIA agent would crack even if we show him that there are such things as fracking aliens and alien technology available.
  25. Asmodemus Clinical Test Subject

It's kind of to be expected. He's just a burnt guy hired to take us out with several layers in place.

He's a mercenary, offer him a better deal and get things ready to watch him carefully.
