Primarily the cargo shuttle, but if one of EVA's several designs resembles a tel'tak in function (less cargo hauling and more general-purpose craft) produce one of those as well. Proposal 1: Keep working on the Gate-capable Sylph project as well as the flight suit/helmet from last turn, if that didn't get completed. Make an inquiry about Colson Industries pre-existing designs that would fit our specifications (through Gate) for the helicopter gunship and transport chopper-- Apache and Blackhawk equivalents. Meh, let's start with making hovercarts for standard containers or grav forklifts that can reach the highest parts of a warehouse unattended. That alone would revolutionize logistics, and therefore the planet. Giving the actual EUR-pallets hover capability would be over the top, though.

You do have nanocore technology, remember. You could have containers that move themselves. Given that the Empire considers them disposable, they should be cheap and easy to build. If you make them reusable, all the better.

Containers and EUR-pallets are traded, though. Right now, no one really cares if the container he gets back is the same he shipped originally. If one can fly, and the other can't, that will change.

Selling a hovercart to a harbor is easier, as that is an improvement that will stay there and can appear on the balance sheet.
(Especially harbors like Hamburg that have no ability to grow will love that thing, as it means they can stack more containers on top of each other without having to buy new lifting vehicles whenever they decide to go one higher)

Besides, having all those containers float through the harbor while thinking about cars and pedestrians will be a logistics nightmare even for an air traffic controller.

I'm sorry, but that isn't going to fly. That is so well beyond current capabilities or your level of preparation for even years later that... I literally have no words to describe what would happen next.

Besides, nanocores have pathfinding and organizational programming. They can do that on their own. It also wouldn't be a stretch to make them fly a little higher that a foot or two off the ground.

No, I didn't plan to implement that just yet. And this game probably ends before we can actually do it because we lose interest som time next year or you throw so many events at us we can't get anything done.

I want them Alien Alloys to be used in Elevators, Skyscrapers, Construction Reinforcement, Shipbuilding, Aircraft, vehicles, everything that wants lightweight yet very resistant and tensile and high performance.
-As well as Dessault Aviation, Mikoyan i Gurevich and the Forming blocs of EADS, in preparation for massive proliferation of the Sylph. Most of the companies should be in the stock market so merger and takeovers should be slightly less costly than their full asset list, by letting minority stakeholders have their pie, and by adjusting for inflation and asset increase in the last 12 years. (cant find the year 2000 company listings, and dont have the time for it.)

IceWing_mk1: Right now I'm leaning towards supporting either Walkir in his hiring efforts, WV in his negotiations with the SGC\Administration or the Internet upgrade with EVA. I'll wait to see what others do in order to finalize

You know, this whole suporting other actions is starting to get a little out of hand. Half of our players are suporting someone else, and things aren't getting done because of it. You guys really need to try harder to think of something to do with your turns, because its starting to look like lazyness to me.

@Forgo: Okay, to be fair, some things will have to have a more energetic power plant. Most likely the big power consumers like heavy tanks and spacefighters. I'm just saying, not everything needs gigawatts of output, and you do have other options.

We need more votes to decide the Beckett Draw.

@Joe: We are only this many players because we are always supporting one or two actions, still allowing Deep to handle the updates.

What if, instead of hover, we did some kind of mag-lev system, which would have part of it on pallets\containers, and the other part integrated onto vessels\warehouse areas?

What about movement on non-ferric, unprepared areas, like on planetary surfaces?

Although, how about a simple electrically driven band tread system that locks onto the bottom of the container? A conveyer belt/scissor lift combo will get the container off of it. Whether you want it completely integrated into the container or just make it a self-moving pallet is up to you. Give it a nanocore AI and it'll handle ground transport by itself.

Hell, make a modular system. Give it a simple tip-jet rotor system and it can fly to it's destination. Put a hoverskirt on it and it's amphibious. Slap some parachutes on it and you can paradrop them. Give them some disposable heat shielding and drop pod style deceleration systems and you could drop them from orbit.

It's a lot simpler than complicated jets or hover mechanisms.

I was working on an idea for a system which would be used in a logistics setting... Built up areas on Earth for example... But your solution works as well as allows for more versatile deployment.... I wouldn't put an AI core in it though, but instead make it a node on a distributed network and allow either a central program\AI to direct it, or have people route it.

True. *shrug* Depends on how much power the systems on our vehicles and spacefighters pull, I suppose, and that is of course up to the GM

Basically, supporting actions halves the risk of getting a failure or critfail-- both of which often require subsequent actions to fix or improve upon. Supporting an action helps us ensure its success, which is very very important on something like, say, our diplomacy actions, which we DO NOT want to fail. Yeah, there's stuff I'd like to see done, but not at the cost of additional failures.

That said, there is stuff we need to get to. Care to start a list? I'm thinking the Ancient Outpost should be near the top.

Also, I don't see your votes on the NPC actions. Care to weigh in?

Just check his profile and he hasn't posted anything since Monday so am guessing that he hasn't been online.

Good idea, too. It's likely your idea would still be needed as well. You can combine my idea and yours by having maglev elements on one or more models of pallet. You can also add maglev tracks running between areas. It'd be faster than the other pallet propulsion methods for developed areas. Though keep in mind one of the lessons of WW2; railroads make for very tempting targets.

Right, now regarding the monopole accusation, it would not be as such , since i had no time to elaborate. entry exams to prepare for. I still consider my former option a valid one, to be done the next turn. right now i dont have the time to defend and elaborate on it, but i will be perhaps able to do so for the next update.
