Something is hijacking my audio

  1. Something weird is going on.
I was having a mostly normal day on my computer. Only things out of the ordinary: Logged in to a forum I hadn't been to in a year (MLP stuff), and downloaded a game from GOG. I've been having minor trouble with Chrome for a while - couldn't log in to Chrome itself - but that wasn't a big deal.
While I'm playing the newly downloaded game, my computer crashes - screen goes all black. Annoying, but I figure (hopefully) it's not the end of the world. I turn it off, turn it back on. It restarts as usual.
Some more minor trouble when I launch Chrome again. See, under normal circumstances, I've got over a hundred tabs, spread over five windows. Usually, when I launch Chrome, it opens them all automatically. This time, however, only one window opens. Still, I go to the "recently closed" option, where I manage to open the other windows (...though my computer only seems to remember them as they were a few days ago). Still not critical. While all this is going on, I also turn back on my Firefox session (...yes, I have an ungodly number of tabs running on on Chrome and Firefox simultaneously. I'm a weirdo.)

So what's the real problem? The problem is that there's an audio playing in an infinite loop. First some song (in English) that plays for a few seconds. Then an ad plays in French (I live in France). No idea what's causing it. And now I'm starting to get really worried. :(
  2. Addendum: Finished running a virus scan with AVG. Found no threat.
  3. confusopoly Arguably sane

I'd bet on a flash ad in a banner on one of your many tabs. Or a video that autoplays on load.
  4. thtadthtshldntb Anti nBSG Troll

please tell me with all those tabs and browsers you run adblocking addons, etc

    What he said.
  6. Thanks, fixed.
What's really embarrassing is that this was the first thing I suspected, and I went ahead to check tab after tab for this. But I still managed to miss the one that was causing this.
