  1. Sorry for all the questions, but have another one

Right now my character has medical tricorder level I. I can train people in Medical Tricorder III. How do I get level III for myself? Rank is a Lt Commander.

Second, can I use Duty officers as buffs? To aid me in combat? If so how do I do that?
  2. If I remember right its your kit that determins the four buffs/debuffs besides what you get from leveling which uses what you put in for abilities.

First you bring up the doff assignments. Then go to active duty and there would be two. One for ground and one for space. You just double click the one you want to use.

Captain powers are determined partly by profession and then by Kit: to Get Medical Tricorder three you'll want a high end Medic or Physician Kit (the Borg Medical analyser has it too, but from the sound of it that's a way off)
  4. Happy belated First Contact Day!
  5. Probably had the most satisfying pug stf just now. ISN in under 10 minutes. Fuck formalities, it was pure dps heaven. The Swedes didn't even know what hit em.

I hope they expand the CXP ranks to level 5 sometime... I've already got several that are at rank 4 :(

Oh, and look at this! A sale on top of a sale!

  7. oh jesus. I already put more money into this game than if I had stuck around paying subscriptions to Eve Online. I've always been curious about that LG carrier and the VA Voyager. Are they worth it?
  8. Kostamojen Fleet Public Relations

VA voyager not worth it. LG carrier?

  10. ^ Those are cool....I have to start working on my klingon toon. The fighters that thing launchers seem so Orkish with those goofy smoke trails behind them.

I still have a 1000 C points so I'm going to crab something. Not sure what yet. Anyone tried out the Nadeon Detonator That comes with the Voyager upgrade ship? Seems like it might be interesting. Thinking about that or maybe an excelsior for the transwarp console for the power upgrades. Or the Venture for the Antimatter spread but I'm not into stuff that keeps people from shooting at me...I'm a cruiser after all. I should be soaking up damage so the escorts can do their job.
  11. I like the Nadion Detonator. It's great against fighters
  12. I have 5 passengers, they are listed as civilians. Any idea what they do or where they came from?? I did a quick google search but didn't see anything
  13. They are for the relocate colonists to federation/klingon borders as well as the colonization chains in the exploration sectors.
  14. Thanks,

Why can't I train in some skills? I want to train structural integrity. Even though I'm a Lt Commander. I don't see the arrow to train in that skill. I have the filter set to available and it's listed there.

Character is a scientist if that make a difference. WHen I assign a Duty Officer to active duty. Is the Buff always active? OR do I have to activate it like items or Bridge Officers skills?
  15. Kha ~ Fire at Will ~

Nadeon is good if you don't have access to Torp Spread. But as a tac-tain I have those coming out of my nose. And my LtC skill in an MVAE are Repulsors II, so I don't need anti-tractor knock back as much as another captain.

Anyone tried the Ablative generator? Can you mount it on other ships? How long does it last, or is it toggled on/off?

Also, I'm a little confused by the shared cooldown thing. Should I have 2 Tac teams? Do they only share a 15s cd, or does using 1 trigger 30s on both? How about 1 tac team + 1 sci/eng team?

How do Aux to Dampeners (30s cd) and Aux to Structural interact (15s cd)?
  16. Kostamojen Fleet Public Relations

The only way to train most skills is via the bride officer trainer on Earth Spacedock. VERY few skills are actually trainable via the "train" button, the rest you have to get via rare bridge officers.

And yes, if you assign a duty officer to active duty, the buff is always there. Its passive.
    Ablative is crap sadly.

2 tac teams = each has a cooldown of 30 seconds, but the global cooldown for team skills is 15 seconds (tac team, eng team, sci team). So if you have any two of those, you can repeatedly use them every 15 seconds. Which for tac team works well, since it stays up for 10 seconds re-routing your shields, so you only have 5 second breaks instead of a 20 second break with just 1 tac team.

Aux to dampeners and integrity work differently, since integrity is such a short skill. But they do share a cooldown, meaning you cant use both at the same time.

On being able to train Structural Integrity at LtC: to be able to train in skills you must meet two criteria:

1: have spent enough skill points: on each rank there's a minimum threshold above which you must be to train into a rank; look at the rank box and it'll show 2 numbers; the lower is the number of points you must spend in skills before you can put points into that rank

2: not have reached yur limit: space and ground have skill point limits that you cannot go above, which increases as you rank, but by the end of the game, only 2/3rds or 3/4s (not sure off hand) of your skill points can be space skills, the remaining have to be ground. It shows the current maximums at the bottom of the skill-up screen.

between those two it can be annoyingly hard to aloocate points, and to get what you want you may have to carry on until you have more points (and the maxiumums scale up)or spend poinjts in lower ranked skills till you reach the minimum
  18. Thanks. I have spend a load of points so probably at the maximum

Hmm, wondering if I should stay with the escort types? Got promoted I doing the science track so would a science ship be more useful as a commander?
  19. Kha ~ Fire at Will ~

Thanks for the reply it really helped me sort out my career plans. Going to have a standard MVAE, a debuffer/dps Recon, and a Dragon-build Excelsior. Big plans!

Also, I withdrew 10k from fleet bank to cover for ridiculous replication costs for colonial doff jobs. Hope you guys don't mind... Btw, how do you earn credits in this game? I feel perpetually short on everything.

It really depends on you. I wanted the max experience, so I planned a career track that allows me to operate all 3 classes with just 8 boffs playing musical chairs. Thankfully, I love the MVAE, whose sciencey-ness makes for easy speccing into a Recon using the RA token, and I'm buying an Excelsior eventually.

My spec doesn't let me heal, but the amount of variability has me loving STO for that.
  20. Sorry I have no idea whay you use said. Whats a MVAE, and whats a RA token?

What rank are you? What Boff do you have?

Sell all the stuff you get but don't want on the exchange.
  22. I don't see the glowing markers anymore when doing missions? It used to be go to x or scan/activate x. When you looked at your map you would have a a glowing circle showing the area. Any idea how to get that back?
  23. Ladiesman Spacebattles Maverick

So I made a snap decision and now I regret it. I've wanted an Escort for some time now, to play around with. With the c-store sale, I scrounged up points to buy a Sao Paulo. I don't think I made the right choice. I realize now the Quad cannons are only Phasers....I use Polarons. And otherwise, it doesn't seem particularly great. I feel like I should have just bought a Defiant, or some of the other random ships with at least a useful console.

But, I guess i'll try using it for awhile. I also realize now how much of a pain in the ass it will be will be to outfit my new ship, and crew it. Been using a cruiser for...2 years.
  24. My fed is a sci off and not as good as the other classes at dealing damage. She's got decent support and buff abilities, so she's perfect for the support role types.
  25. So thats good once you learn the game? I started as a science officer, so would having a science ship and doing episodes be good?

How come when I did the borg invasion thing just now. I was fighting at a level 50? I'm only level 20
