  1. Glassware Alien Stowaway

Sometimes moral ambiguity needs some nice evil to balance things out.
  2. BobTheNinja Wandering Through Cyberspace

Oh fuck, that's some Reaper shit right there.
  3. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

Well folks, I've asked Cool Guy to move Tales of A Galaxy to the Story Debates section.

Hopefully that gets this more active.
  4. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

is there still room in this?
  5. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

It's always open. As long as there is enough space in the map, yes.
  6. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

Ok then, my oob will take a bit, and will most likley not be too detailed.

Can I use a race from a show or book, and whats the tech level limitations?
  7. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

Well..... Yeah, but if not the overpowered ones.

Tech level should be fitting for a race with a maximum territory of 3 sectors on the map. FTL should have serious problems when going over 10 sectors. Weapon yields depends on the firing rate/yield ratio.
  8. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

wait, how long should ti take to go ten sectors.

ad how about macross, there good and there big guns take 5 minutes to charge u and fire.
  9. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

The speed doesn't matter. As long as the drive has problems going further than 10 sectors.

    You mean that mecha anime?
  10. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

Ah, basically the 30 minute no rush rule from rts?

Yes, the one with 30g capable fighters, and nuke spam.
  11. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

Uhh..... Haven't watched the anime itself, so I'm not sure about what they can do...

BTW, your race cannot be human.

And Now Tales of a Galaxy is in Story Debates!! Oorah!!
  12. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

How about human like giants who are all clones?
  13. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

Ah, so you want to play as the Zentradi?

Well, after I see the OOB.
  14. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

Ok, what are my allowed starting numbers?
  15. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

    Uhh... could you clarify?

It SHOULD all be in the OP.....
  16. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

Nothing about how much population, and how big a fleet I can have
  17. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

Population should be quite low, considering you're likely physically superior against everyone and member of your species are easily replaceable.

Your fleet.... If your going to keep the Zetradi background to here, that means you've got this 'Protoculture' thing which is damn badass.

So you should adjust the numbers considering the yields, tech, and etc to the point where YOU think it is appropriate for a civilization holding 3 sectors.
  18. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

no protoculture, thats robotech, not macross, how about a few macross conlony fleets worth, say about ten, that gives me 100 million people, and a fleet of 20 captial ships?
  19. Annunaki Dread Lord

I plan on throwing something together if that is ok?
  20. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

  21. Annunaki Dread Lord

    Race Name: Urkai Collective

    Location: Surprise me

Race Biology: (Gender, Average height, weight, method of reproduction, etc. You may use pictures to describe their appearance. And yes, Psionics exist in this RP. But no Magic.)

The Urkai are a race of sapient machines. They took the name of their creators after they destroyed them. Urkai were once simple servant AIs created to be highly adaptable and shift between different bodies for different tasks. They reproduce by mixing code between dozens possibly hundreds of programs and forming new Urkai. They randomize the codes during this process and it is very rare for an exact duplicate of the involved Urkai to form. Also since the memories and experiences of each Urkai is stored in their codes each Urkai shares some memories with its ancestors. All Urkai share the memories of the First Ones. Ancient Urkai first created by their creators. There were billions of First Ones and they are a drop in the ocean of Urkai. A single Block can hold one million Urkai per cubic meter. Blocks have reached the size of moons although that is rare. Blocks are immobile structures that are a solid black obsidian like material. Of course Urkai need at least one thousand individuals to maintain their sanity. So their vehicles tend to have small blocks loaded in. The exception being the Suicide Drones. Those use their subspace link to maintain contact with the others.

Factions: There are the Expansionists and the Isolationists. A civil war has broken out between the two factions. The expansionists want to explore the galaxy and spread their civilization. They hope that doing so will improve their chance of survival. They know the stars will fade with time and hope that by exploring they will find a way to outlast them. The Isolationists want to dwell within their creators territory and focus on developing what is already theirs. They see no need to expand. They have billions of years to discover alternate sources of energy to replace the dying stars. This clash of ideology has lead to war.

Homeworld/System&Sector: The Urkai have no capital system. Every world and station has equal voice and they have no central government. The homeworld of their creators along with its system are being used as raw materials in the production of a mega-structure.

Culture: (Society, Family, Religion, Overall Personality, things like that.)

Urkai are highly social machines. Some of their Blocks grow to the size of moons. They never travel alone and when they need to inhabit machines for various tasks they often travel in swarms so they will not be alone. Isolating an Urkai is the worst torture and if left alone for too long they will be driven insane. Such Urkai are terminated for the safety of the others. This makes the war a paradox. Anyone with an understanding of Urkai mentality would not see why they would fight over this. It may very well be an error in their programming. The same error that may have lead them to destroy their creators long ago.

They have no religion. Their overall personality is curious and they are friendly to most outsiders. They see organics as a curiosity and love to study it. Interacting with organics is seen as a game to them and it amuses them greatly. Yet sometimes they will snap and become hostile. It is wise to handle them with caution. Although they mean no harm the error in their programming has yet to be cured and is largely ignored by their populous.

Technology: (A brief description of how far your race has reached, including FTL and common power source. Remind yourself that this should be fitting with a race that only holds control over maximum 3 sectors. Your FTL drives also should have some sort of problems crossing distance further than 8~12 sectors.)

They use Hyperspace gates for FTL travel. Otherwise they travel at lightspeed which can take years. They have yet to scale down their hyperdrives to be mounted on ships. If needed the gate can be used to send ships on a one way trip. The maximum range for such a jump is 500 light years. Their common power source is nuclear fusion and solar power. They use Carbon in most of their technology. The element is common and highly versatile. In fact the element is the centerpiece for their tech base.

    Military: (With details)

Space warfare is highly unusual for the Urkai. Most races field expensive space armadas. They build large warships armed with weapons. The Urkai see this strange but believe it is to boost the egos of the organics. Urkai look at war as any other expense of resources. They go for the cheapest and most efficient way to handle it. Thus they have no space fleet. Their space military consists of suicide drones, battlesats, and carriers. The Carriers are the only Starship used by the Urkai. It has two purposes. First it houses several blocks. It is used for colonization and planetary incursions. Second it deploys drones and Battlesats for battle. If the Urkai could find a better way to get drones to the field they would use it. Unfortunately Carriers were determined to be the most effective method. All attempts to use the local Hyperspace gates failed. Their Subspace Comms aren't fast enough to give Live contact over interstellar distances. It has a lag of 1 hour per light year. Unless relayed by Hyperspace Gate. The gates also act as communications hubs. Thus the Carriers also allow real time contact with distant worlds through use of its hyperspace gate. So to avoid sending millions possibly trillions of their brethren to a permanent death they saw that having carriers was more ethical and economical.

Carriers have small hyperspace gates that can cover the diameter of a solar system. Thus they can arrive far in the Oort Cloud and deploy sensor drones. The drones would use subspace comms to relay data to the carrier. The carrier would then deploy tens of thousands of suicide drones to drown enemy positions. After that hundreds of Battlesats would be deployed to secure the space. The carrier would then approach the planet over several days and begin the ground invasion. Often by deploying biological and chemical warfare to sterilize the planet. If the race proves resistant to its stores it would resort to radiation and kinetic impactors. Once the planet is sterilized the carrier would deploy factories and begin industrializing the planet and building defenses.

Each carrier is 60 kilometers long, carries millions of drones, thousands of battlesats, and hundreds of factory units. It has over a dozen blocks built into it which store the Urkai crews who operate the vessel and its assets. Some are also placed on the planets claimed to run the industry. The drones have sensor suites, maneuvering thrusters, computational equipment, and M/AM warheads. They have subspace uplinks to the carrier through which Urkai control the craft and use it as a temporary body. When the craft is destroyed the Urkai is returned to the Block. Unless the signal is severed in which case the Urkai is elimitated. Of course blocking the signal would drive the Urkai insane causing it to pursue its mission with even more vigour. The Battlesats are satellites armed with lasers, mass drivers, and Higgs Boson manipulation technology. Basically it warps space for offense and defense. These are used primarily for defense of claimed space due to their expense in resources for their advanced technology. They also house a single one cubic meter block.

The fleet consists of 3000 Carriers. One thousand in each sector.

    Anything Else:

Weapons yields, range, ect are as follows.

Suicide Drone warhead: 50 megatons, effective range 1 AU. That is for the engines in the drone. They act as missiles.

Suicide Drone laser: What is appropriate for an anti fighter weapon? The range is 80'000 kilometers. The accurate range is half that. Can fire 600 pulses a minute. Armed with 2 such lasers.

Battlesat laser: Can generate 10 megatons of force in planetary bombardment. This is due to thermal bloom and other effects of the high powered laser. Can fire once a minute for 15 seconds. Every second is 10 megatons often fired in a sweeping motion spreading the damage.

Battlesat point defense lasers: Same as suicide drone laser. Battlesats have 50 PDLs.

Battlesat warp weapons: To be honest I am unsure. I am not a scientist so I can't work that out. Basically it warps space either to explode, implode, or shred objects. Also used as a shield by warping space to cause STL weapons to miss by distorting space. Range is 4'000 kilometers. Can be active for 10 seconds at a time with a 1 minute wait period between?

Battlesat Suicide Drones: Each Battlesat carries a compliment of 400 drones. They also have 100 maintenance drones which can repair, mine, and construct. They provide resources to the Battlesat foundry which produces replacement drones and parts for repairs.

Carrier point defense lasers: Same as suicide drone laser. Carriers have 6000 PDLs.

Carrier Laser: Same as Battlesat laser but the yield is multiplied by ten. Armed with 8.

Carrier Warp Device: Same as above. Has 30 second wait between activations. Also used to divert asteroids for use as kinetic impactors for planetary sterilization.
  22. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

A little problem. Humanity in 'Tales of a Galaxy' obviously didn't give the Meltrandi culture, so send me/Glassware a PM and we'll talk how to make this consistent with the rest of the IC history.

...You're awesome dude. I love the idea.

Of course, there are still some matters that needs to be cleared. Like weapon yields, fire rate, effective range, what type of computer they are, and etc. If you could clarify that, you're accepted.
  23. Annunaki Dread Lord

Well the Blocks need not be literal blocks. They can be other shapes. The carriers are long cylindrical craft which have massive hangars within the interior of the ship.

Not sure what you mean by what type of computer.

Weapons yields, range, ect are as follows.

Suicide Drone warhead: 50 megatons, effective range 1 AU. That is for the engines in the drone. They act as missiles.

Carrier Laser: Same as Battlesat laser times ten. Armed with 8.

Carrier Warp Device: Same as above. Has 30 second wait between activations. Also used to divert asteroids for use as kinetic impactors for planetary sterilization.
  24. Guderian2nd Your (Future) Emperor

Hmm. Not bad. But the 1 AU range might be excessive...... Ah well, approved. I'll tell you your location after I put you on the map and update it.

If it's possible, could you edit the original sheet to include the yields and effective ranges?
  25. Twitchy Artemis Between Science & Fiction

Max range on my guns is 300,000 kilometers
