  1. Ben The Original Ben again

Helo by a mile. He was pretty much the One Good Man whose presence helped redeem the rest of the human cast.
  2. king of hybrids Bewildered Bystander

roslin struck me as many things, but of sufficent greed for the orange light of avarice didn't seem one of them.

in the end she basically handed all her power over to leemo; instead of clinging to it with all the repulsive glory of larflezze or luthor
  3. Daniel2112 You Poor Fucking Humans

True, but basically no one in the fleet has what it takes to attract a Ring, any Ring, except perhaps Helo. Not only is everyone in the fleet a pathetic shitbag, they're not even pathetic enough to be of note to one of the negative emotion Power Rings.
  4. Yvonmukluk This just in!

Admiral Cain or Cavil might qualify for a Red Ring.

And Saul Tigh clearly missed his calling as Guardian of the Drunk Lantern Corps.
  5. Daniel2112 You Poor Fucking Humans

Permission to sig the second half of that?
  6. Yvonmukluk This just in!

It would be my genuine pleasure sir. Sig away!
  7. king of hybrids Bewildered Bystander

clearly their qualified to be the guardians.

    Would that make Helo Ganthet?
  9. king of hybrids Bewildered Bystander

no idea, but roslin as scar amuses me greatly
  10. Jared The scalpel.

Six would totally be a Star Sapphire.
  11. Zelinko Indexing The Index

I can't see Six dressing in a white and blue dress with fairy wings though...

  12. Rockhound Sexual Triceratops

    Pink Elephant Corps.
  13. Adama. Helo was too Mary Sue for me in a lot of occasions. Adama takes it since he's not only got a good head on his shoulders but has more integrity than most of the cast put together. Tigh by a close second for being the trusted second officer that would do anything for his friend.

  14. Sazzmo The One and Only...

My vote goes to Felix: This guy has one of the most tragic characters arcs I've seen on tv. (I wondered if they just kept giving Alesandro this stuff because he did such an amazing job with the tragedies his character endured.) Without Felix, no one gets off New Caprica. No one! He got them the radio codes, and the ship key locations. Yet, he was looked on as a traitor even after the truth came out. Then he gets his leg blown off because Helo decides to stop following Kara's orders. Then they keep treating him like shit and the cylons like the one who shot him as allies. I'm pretty sure I'd snap too. He stands by his ideals from the very beginning, and I really wanted his mutiny to succeed.

By the end of the show I hated all the "hero" characters. I had begun to hate Bill and Laura, for being oppressive assholes. The president throws people in jail for daring to read a book she doesn't like, or is perfectly fine with living off of the slave labour of the working class. In the same vein, Adama threatened to have some of his deck hands like Cally lined up and shot unless they get the fuck back to work. He lost my respect there and then. I always hated Starbuck for being a righteous bitch, and Lee was just an idiot.

As for Helo, I never understood all the love people had for him. Quite frankly, I believe that every single person that died after he stopped them from using the virus, is his fault. Hundreds if not thousands of lives with the blood on his hands to save the things that were responsible for the genocide of 60 BILLION people. They wrote him as a mary sue, and it was annoying.

I agree. Helo and Adama were the only characters not to come as repulsive or caricatures of humanity. Everyone else was simply too jerkish or annoying to care about.

The only other person I didn't hate was Baltar, and it was because he was hilarious.
  16. Daniel2112 You Poor Fucking Humans

Ah yes, Helo's a Mary Sue now... Okay, the accusation's been leveled, now back it the fuck up. How is Helo a Mary Sue? Go on, back up your bullshit. If you can.
  17. PsyckoSama Ia! Ia! Kamina fthagn!

    Helo and Felix.

    I could stand Bill.
  18. I'm definitely in the minority, because I picked Gaius Baltar. He's a hilarious character with a great arc, and James Callis played him brilliantly. Morally, he may not be an angel, but his constant motivator is self-preservation. And besides, how would the Cylon occupation of New Caprica have gone down with Laura Roslin as president, stubbornly refusing to surrender?

    Baltar is awesome.

IMO none of the characters are repulsive. They're all flawed, which is part of what makes the series great.

*BLAM!* "We'll be outside while you swear in your new president. Hopefully he or she will be more willing to cooperate than she was."

    *And there was much rejoicing*
  20. PeaceKeeper_Cmdr Pimping for Justice

Helo is easily the least repulsive.

However, I'm surprised there isn't more love for Athena. I don't recall her being all that awful (lightyears better than Boomer, for sure).
  21. Tai Falkenburg Alleluia!

That's the funny thing about Baltar (both oBSG and nBSG): For a character who did some pretty dark things, they were just so much fun to watch. Both were selfish jerks, lamenting their positions, abut at the same time their narcissism and neurotic behavior made them hilariousness.

Made even more hilarious with nBSG Baltar - He clearly has ethical conflicts and could be a better person. But still goes on womanizing and being self-centered. He's the comic relief in a Grimdark show.
  22. Exactly. And that's best-case scenario, assuming she doesn't get a whole bunch of other people killed for a pointless act of defiance.

Co-signed. He's consistently hilarious throughout the series, but I about lost it when he settled into his Jesus-like prophet role and started delivering fleet-wide sermons. James Callis was amazing in that role.
  23. greendoor Open me at your own peril

I liked Helo right up until he decided to stop the biological attack on the cylons, but that was more of a "you are a weak idiot" type thing not a "morally repungant" one.
I liked Bill Adama and Tigh most of the time, but they did do some stupid (but forgiveable) shit
I hated Roslin as a religous fanatic and total bitch
Lee was the worst though, all throughout the series.
Baltar did mostly understandable stuff given his personaliity.
  24. I liked the doc. Old, grumpy and just there trying to do his job.

  25. Owen Swordsman Extraordinaire!

This. Doc Cottle had just the right combination of compassion, pragmatism and "I don't give a shit who you are". Stuck to his principles the whole way through and anyone who tried to interfere was told to find another doctor.

As a second, I felt for Bill Adama. Yes, he did some pretty nasty things over the course of the series, but no matter what Roslin thought, it was clear the man was taking on responsibility for the entire human race. He was harsh at times (too harsh) because he wouldn't allow anything to interfere with that greater duty, and he couldn't see any way to do it other than his way.
