Or how about no? People who feel compulsively they must collect the poitns won't be able to feed the addiction for overly long....
*facepalms* I loved the Darkwing Duck cartoon when I was a child. Absolutely frackin hilarious show! The problem being - I watched the show in german so I dind't know 'Negaduck' was 'Fiesoduck's' original english localized name. EDITED I approve using Negaduck for the new warning/ban system.
... Do we really need to change the name so people won't be tempted to collect infraction points? Really? If this is honestly true my opinion of our userbase just went down. I like to think that the majority of our users won't go "OH MAN, POINTS?! I BETTER GET A BUNCH OF THEM!" Unless we plan on adding a high score page or something.
So when the deluded bandwagon following masses demanded more stupidity from our lords and masters. The lords up-high answered with their all inspiring brand of wisdom: No t'is a silly thing that shall never come to pass.
I don't get how Infraction points are appealing. It's an infraction, a violation of accepted rules and standards. You're all just asking for the name to be dumbed down so people get' infraction bad!' [/Frankstein].
Sadly, there are some people out there for whom it has to be dumbed down for in order for them to understand it - and even then some of them won't get it. These are the people who say "it's free - it must be good!", who think meat originates in the back of the supermarket in styrofoam trays out of thin air, and for whom the cartons of eggs are labled "Allergy Warning: May Contain Eggs". I'd hope there wouldn't be any of those maroons around these parts, but you never know where an ignoranimus will pop up.
Fuck them. Like a child who learns the hard way why you don't touch fire or stick a fork in the power socket they'd learn you don't call down the Mod thunder by getting infractions.
On the illusion of wannabe BANNED Members thinking that infraction points = hi score, We have the 'like's to distract them from gaining Nega Points.
Meh, I figured that given we have multi-year trolls before they get the Pemaban, be entertaining to the Mod staff and the rest of us if they enforced "Skulls for the Skull Throne" or "Flowers for your grave", etc. "You have broken forum rule X, 100 Bones are broken in your body, and you are sent to hospital for the day. Don't do it again" - Sample Mod But The Observer has spoken, so I'll shut up about it, thanks for indulging me.
I can't be the only one who saw the GIANT warning points box at the top, looked to the right to see "points" under my avatar and thought, "What the hell did I do?"
Considering the warning bars: Is it possible to change their colour? Right now I have repeatedly missed them the first few times because they have the same blue colour like everything else and only the red warning triangle on the right is an indicator.
Well if someone is unbright enough that they intentionally try to get infraction points, or whatever you want to call them, Wouldn't the problem take care of itself after a while.
Kinda like how they have to put 'Do not insert into any bodily orifice' on curling irons; there's a reason...
Aren't points supposed to expire after a certain amount of time, depending on how many points overall you have and what you did to earn certain points. IE excesive trolling/flaming points being more and lasting longer then say moderate trolling/flaming points. Or something like that.
*sighs* Reread the bolded part. Then laugh at the joke you missed the first time. Then slink away in disgrace.
Worked kinda like this in the old forum yes. Kinda because while they didn't count anymore, you could always see them.
