  9. point, main issue is early mobile suits are.. flimsy and slow. as long as the first mobile suit we get isnt a zaku 2 or something.. a dom would actually be a good idea with its hovering, and would cause quite a few ideas to pop up

    ... though if possible we should get the OMS version of the dom, so it has a beam bazooka instead of the rakatan, as well as the built in grenade launcher on the refined version

    Note that the Destroid has what are effectively one-shot LRM-12s in the torso as well, if with ranges well over a mile or more per missile. And the twin gun clusters means it has two of each of these:
    LMGs
    Flamers
    'Mech Mortar 1s
    Medium Lasers

    That's a helvalot more firepower then on a stock Warhammer, although with fiddling, you might be able to match that with (canon) post-Helm tech. Maybe. However recall that using a design already in production and flaunting a superior version tends to irk the hell out of the company that produces it. And some of the companies out there have hair trigger tempers (Irian) and the armies (Irian) to back them up that have no scruples/restrictions (Irian) about making examples (Irian) or stealing blueprints (Irian).

    I'd just use the Cheyenne II instead. Like a combination of a Warhammer, Hammerhands, and the Longbow - all in a single package. Plus a bigass jump-jet in the rear AND deployable road wheels. Dunno how damaging the weaponry would be, but the sheer fact that all that was mounted onto a single frame would cause serious head tilting. I imagine Natasha Kerensky would be practically drooling for one, considering her original iconic 'Mech was a Warhammer after all. That and rather then wanting you dead, all the companies would be scrambling in wanting to buy your design and/or hire you for life, while setting you up like a king (at least until they no longer need you).

    I would however utterly avoid Gundam tech. The LAST thing you'd want the Inner Sphere getting its hands on would be Minovsky Particle theory. Macross at least uses thermonuclear fusion without (too many) gimmicks, and likely could be copied 1:1, or close enough to it not to matter. Gundam stuff on the other hand starts at Clan levels, and then rapidly escalates into 'HAHA...No' territory once you get past OYW era Mobile Suits. And the thought of Comstar -ever- getting their hands on a Minovsky Reactor and it's little bundle of joy in being able to disperse the excess as THAT particular particle field, is enough to make me cringe.

  15. Despite Gundam and Macross mecha being cool and even if they do get unlocked, he likely won't ever be able to buy them. He just pulled off a series of insane stunts which may be rather hard to equal/top and got 24,672 points out of it.

    If we consider the Heavy Gear prices:
    and the unlocked Metal Gears:
    The MG are a great deal more expensive, REX costs 4 TIMES what he earned here. It seems the further you go from BT physics the more expensive the mod/mech/weapon gets.

    I'm a bit confused by the Metal Gear costs, considering that, outside of Snake/Otacon in the cockpit of Rex, any/all MGRays should by rights WTFPWN any Rex clone out there. The only advantage Rex has over Ray is that it can launch untraceable stealth nukes, and sheer mass if it comes down to melee combat (at range, Ray wins). And Exelsus is something like 3 or 4 times the size of Rex, and has a HELL of a lot of firepower, plus melee. If it wasn't for the fact that Raiden is stupidly super-robot levels of cyborg, the Exelsus would have mulched him - let alone anything else it came across. The only thing that comes close to Exelsus in sheer size was Peacemaker (or likely whatever will show up in MGS5).

    TX-55, D, and G are barely passable as anti-infantry platforms, which again, their sole saving grace is being mobile nuke launchers.

    If you want to be cheap, but have coverage for everything, get the ZEKE, you won't need REX. If you want to go expensive, and have everything but nuke capabilities, go for the Exelsus. About the only reason to get the Ray is if you want amphibious capacity, and a damn fast ground speed (Excelsus is...slow). Any of the rest, just aren't worth it.

    ZEKE was the first true Metal Gear based off Granin's plans (which were actually REX's blueprints, mind you. He was way ahead of his time), but it was made by MSF and we lacked any true funding or resources to make it well. Thus, ZEKE was rickety, small and held together with duct tape and chewing gum. Huey and Strangelove did nothing short of a few dozen miracles to make it work and a dozen more miracles occurred when it didn't fall apart on its own the first time Paz jumped around with it.

    It's only redeeming feature (and the only reason I invested in it) was that it could mount and act as a platform for Peacewalker's Railgun and thus give MSF some nuclear deterrent of our own. Even then, it's massively inferior to REX's, since it only accelerates a missile, which is easily detected once the propulsion activates, to augment its' range instead of firing a warhead on its' own and thus having a stealth launch. Even then, REX has the greater strike range.

    Now, REX is, ironically, far more the best medium between the nuclear launch Metal Gears and the "Anti-Metal Gears" Metal Gears. It's decently armed with chainguns, AT Laser and guided missiles, has close range combat abilities and the sheer mass to make such attacks devastating, and is fairly agile for its shape. I can see REX being that pricey because it combines both sides of the Metal Gear evolution and is the most solidly built of them all. Even Snake and Fox wailing on it with all they had didn't destroy it. No other Metal Gear can take a hit as well as REX can and if you deploy a Metal Gear in Battletech, you won't be able to dodge anything anyway. Unless you plan it out extremely well and disable most weaponry before they see you, all other Metal Gears will fall apart from any decent firepower concentration. Meanwhile, REX could probably wade through a sizeable amount of firepower and remain fully functional.

    That said, by sheer size and straight fighting capability, EXCELSUS should be the most costly. Peacewalker has nowhere near the size or mass of EXCELSUS.
