    Ok, this isyet another thread in a line long of Zero No Tsukaima (also known as Familiar of Zero) story discussion, idea, and story snippet threads. However, we ask that you label any story snippets you write up, as not all of us are automatically going to know what the story snippet is about, what series is featured, or who the characters are. Do us the favor, assume we know nothing about it, and title it appropriately as such. Also, please don't just say a characters name and then demand we discuss it. Instead, tell us why that character stands out in your mind, and some of what you can see happening. Much more entertaining that way, and far more likely to get you responses (short of actually writing out a snippet with it).:)

    If too many story snippets remain untitled, I reserve the right label them as whatever amuses me and/or embarrasses you (but I'll only start doing this if you give us no choice in the matter), so if you don't want to see things along the lines of BARNEY THE DINOSAUR, TELETUBBIES, or something else along these lines, then kindly state up front what you have written.:)

    That said, enjoy.:D

  3. biigoh Hmmmm?

    Tsun on Tsun? Can it be?

    We will get to see the mythical Dere on Dere love as well?

    Looks like I either need to bring Taiga back or get another Tsundere, Nyoro~
  5. No no no no.

    Obviously we must have Louise summon Rin! The Unlimited Blade Works variant, so she can begin expanding her harem.

    I subscribe to the Gordian Knot and Occam's Razor school of crossover design (for one, this would be a fusion, not a crossover). Rather than devise an inelegant, clunky explanation for why Halks can see two moons and Avvies only see one, I just go "... there's one moon, 'kay?", and move on. One moon is important to the Avatar plot, two isn't really that important to the ZnT plot, hence "one" wins out.

    And the thing is? If I didn't mention it, people wouldn't notice for chapters and chapters.

    Don't you see! You fool! That monstrous freak in Ba Sing Se, that... that bear! It came from the Halkeginian continent. Drifted across on a piece of wood. Or maybe an airship crash. That's also where the cats come from.

    And at least one person has a platypus-bear as a familiar.

    Oh, and Siesta's grandfather came from the Fire Nation (she even has the right colouration), and the Lion of Tarbes is a 70 year old Fire Nation tank, in which at some point the characters will have to ride into battle, Kirche keeping the boiler going while everyone else fires magic out the slots.

    And Siesta isn't meant to get angry. She has to stay calm, or fires around her start acting up, and sometimes things ignite.
  7. Having benders for parents doesn't mean having bender children. Just look at Sokka. Maybe if both parents are benders, their children would likely be benders too.

    "No Mal, You don't understand."

    "What don't I understand, Book? The Doc said that these are artifacts from Earth-that-was. There isn't much for us to do about it"

    "... These artifacts came through some sort of hyper-dimensional rift only years ago. These weapons are from far earlier than you think."

    "Gee, preacher, isn't there a way for you to explain it better? What y'all mean?"

    Shepherd Book looked at the crew with a tortured look only he could have. It was nearly a year after Mal had disappeared through the portal in the cargo bay, and the crew of the serenity had just found him on a backwater planet right out of some ancient fantasy novel.

    But only the preacher and the doctor could see what truly mattered.

    "Mal, everyone... These artifacts don't come from the Earth-that-was... but rather, The-Earth-that-is. We... we can save it, prevent the exodus, the wars. We can take our Earth back."
    ~~~~~
    Mal, from Firefly.
    now i know i'm going to get murdered nyoro~
  9. mdkcde Not good enuff.
    I like it. Do you have any other stray worldbuilding details you might have thought about Earthscorpion?
  10. Rosencrantz14 Wolkenritter
    But neither Kya nor Hadoka were benders. Kya lied through her teeth in telling the invaders that she was the waterbender they were looking for, it was explicitly stated that Katara was the only one left.
  11. Yeah AFAIK they never really went into detail about how one becomes a bender. Katara's parents and brother weren't benders though I think it was implied somewhere that her grandmother might have been one. The Air Nomads I think were supposed to all be benders as well. *shrug*
    Most of them would be back in an older thread, in the context of a Sokka summons (pre Avatar series, possibly a few weeks before the main series starts, where he's summoned after falling into polar water). He's basically Saito+, in that he has some of the same flaws, but is a much more interesting character, and has canonical Sokka-fu with the ladies.
    Also, Sokka in the same universe as Colbert can only end in... progress. And his science explaining to Monmon how it rains.
    ... it was probably going to end up with Prince-Consort Sokka of Tristain, I do have to say, with him with more of a big-brother role to Louise. He never did mean to explain to her that he saw her more like his 14-year old sister than a sixteen year old, but he managed to kick himself in the teeth because he is Sokka.
  13. Sokka is the best idiot hero trope example ever. Why isn't he being used more often? Especially with replacing the stupid idiot hero of canon ZnT.
    AHEM. Unpolished, and very rough, and not sure if I'll have time to develop it, but this idea has been popping in and out of my head for weeks.
    Another explosion.
    Louise knelt within the cloud of smoke, coughing up the results of her latest failed attempt at magic. Why did ever spell she cast have to end in an explosion, of all things? And it was a big explosion this time. Fifty new gold worth of property damage turned to a cloud of ash and soot - obscuring the tiny silhouette of her familiar - and this time around she wasn't going to get a do-over. Failing to summon a familiar was the last proof, all her peers needed to label her a fallen noble. Less than a fallen noble, even, as for all their shame they still had their magi-
    Wait, what was that about a silhouette?
    Louise Françiose de la Vallière raised her head, the tears of her failure and shame drying in her eyes, and took her first look at the beast she had summoned.
    "Louise!" Kirche sounded positively scandalized. "You can't just go snatching children off the street! Separating them from their mother like that!"
    And indeed, her summon was a child - a little girl who could be no older than six, with long gold hair and mismatched eyes that took in the castle ground, it's students, and most especially the sky, with newborn wonder. She was clearly a commoner, if only by the state of her dress - whitewashed rags torn and dirtied from either trial or travel. More worrying was the chain upon the girl's ankle, an insidious blackened set of irons seemed set upon keeping her from leaving... somewhere. It had been broken off on one of the links.
    At Kirche's word mother, she perked up. Her eyes returned to the students - there were so many ladies! How was she supposed to know which one was her mama? Her voice was shaky, uncertain: "Mama...?"
    "Well," said Colbert. "This is a most... unusual summon, Miss Louise. An infantile creature is rare, but not unheard of. But a human, of all things..." He coughs, and tries to take his eyes of the child. "Well, that's absolutely unheard of! But, if this is what God and Brimir will, then you must complete the ritual."
    "But, Professor Colbert, she's only-" Louise is promptly cut off by the child running straight into her chest, nearly knocking the wind out of her.
    "Mama!" the girl cried, hugging the pinkette as tight as she could. "Mama!"
    The child knew that the pink one was her mama, because when she looked at her she felt the same warmth that the Elegant Lady gave her when she spoke to her in the dreams before the child's birth. And the child knew that this was how the Elegant Lady felt for her mamas and papas, back when she was as young as her. And she knew that the pink girl had been the one who had taken her from the tunnels, and brought her to see the sky. The Elegant Lady had told her so, even if she didn't speak much anymore.
    Louise didn't know how to react, so she did as she was want to do when she had to deal with children, and asked herself: What Would Cattleya Do?
    The answer was apparently: hug her back. "Okay," she told the child, pressing her lips to the child's brow. "I'll be your mama for now, until we can find your real one."
    The child winced as what felt like fire lanced from her forehead, but made no pained sound for the burning. The fires and thunders that had ripped her from the glass womb had been worse - much worse - and so too had been her crawl towards the surface. This burning could be suffered through, as long as her mama was there to hold her hand - preferably her right hand. A few tears welled up and she couldn't help but whimper as the runes carved themselves into the back of her left hand. Yes, definitely the right hand.
    Louise tried her best to sound like Cattleya when she at last spoke to the child. "So, little one, what is your name?"
    The girl hiccups, and buries herself in Louise's chest.
    "Vivio."
    ---
    Sacred: Check
    Powerful: Also Check
    Beautiful: Give her a few years. Olivie had so many suitors she had to start beating the crap out of them. With her fists. Which could punch holes in the fabric of space and time.
    Unfortunately, it being the Nanohaverse, that only made them want to be with her more. I imagine half the peace she established came about because all of the rulers of her time were in her harem.
  15. MinuSeven Vita's Mr.Bunny (also availiable on hat)
    @Vivio snip: Yes. Continue, please.
  16. mdkcde Not good enuff.
    I have a bad feeling about the Viviosnip.
    I am not saying it is bad though.
  17. Well.....From the way it sounds, it seems like Nanoha hasn't met Vivio yet. Which means that Louise isn't likely to face oncoming pink annihilation........Any more so than any other cute and troubled girl around Nanoha at any rate.......Of course there is the high possibility of Jail coming to look for Vivo which would be pretty bad.
  18. It's not like he can track her across dimensions, can he?
  19. Darth Artemis Hero Prinny
    When it comes to Jail it's best to discount nothing and expect everything.
  20. NeoSeether Time Diver
    Indeed.
    All the more important, considering that Jail Scaglietti is batshit insane AND an unholy fusion of SRW's Ingram Plisken and Shuu Shirakawa.
    ...now, where's that particular image, again?
  21. ...Whoms?
  22. SmallTips Ally of convenience
    Master of gambits and a mad scientist that discover how to fire black holes.
  23. It's not like Jail can track her to a world outside TSAB influence, possibly unknown to them, with high amounts of magic that has two moons that can cause dimensional anomalies as a natural effect. Nope, I'm sure such a place is of no interest to such a man as he. ;7
  24. We've seen Louise summon Emiya Shirou, specifically the HoS version, but what if instead, Louise summons pre-4th Grail War Emiya Kiritsugu shortly before the Einzberns hire him for the Grail War?
  25. Dudethunder That which brings an end
    Ingram Plisken is a Time Diver who is charged with maintaining causality. He's been brainwashed by the Balmarians (an evil alien empire), is good at Xanatos Gambits that further his personal plans despite the brainwashing, and was a major player in the creation of Super Robot Type X and the Real Robot series (1,2,3, Gun, and the planned Sword). He also probably left a lot of the plans that were used in the creation of the SRX Altered Banpreios as part of one of his schemes. They were created with Extra-Over Technology that came to Earth in Meteor-3. Has the unfortunate habit of not staying dead.
    Shuu Shirakawa is a scientist skilled at giant robot science, gravity technology, and total annihilation power generation. Unfortunately, the Evil God has possessed him and made him evil. This is especially bad because he's quite good at being evil. His methods tend to include infiltrating a society, getting them to pay him to make a superweapon, and then using it himself. His true desire is to ensure that no one else is possessed by evil gods, but he tends to be kind of busy before he gets the evil slapped out of him. Has the unfortunate habit of not staying dead.
