1. What's the real difference between a child and a teenager boy? Neither of them are "people" if they don't register on the detect magic spell.
2. Rosencrantz14 Wolkenritter

Yeah, I know. That's one of the many reasons that it's probably not going to continue. At least, not with the same tone of that first bit (I have a vision in my head of Vivio curbstomping Wardes in Albion while calling him a 'big meany', for example). It's a problem I have with writing Vivio - I can't do it without her putting the God back in God Empress.
3. thesevenwielder Pondering...

Not for me. I once envisioned writing a Vivio snippet a while back. It was set sometime around when the first Jormungandr was introduced. Vivio puts up a good fight, but is defeated...then a blazing pink beam of magical energy comes from the sky and annihilates it. Nanoha, who has finally found her missing child, descends from the sky and tells them to "Get away from my daughter." pissed and ready to kick ass 'n take names.

Where is thread 36 snippet summary?
5. mdkcde Not good enuff.

Oh god... now I get it.

Now I understand everything. Remember the super awful snippet I posted way back? No? good, keep it that way.

I just noticed why the fic was called "The Lightning of Halkeginia"

He probably didn't see fit to intervene right then. Louise seemed to have things well in hand and was not, for once, trying to blow up her own familiar.

@mdk: Wha? I don't get it, mostly because I dared not touch that link.
7. mdkcde Not good enuff.

The link just leads to a bigger picture SVBN. What I'm saying is that I uncovered yet another layer of stupid on that fic.
Louise comes back to Halkeginia 3 years later, taller and with a shorter hair. Both Louise and Lightning have pink hair. Hence the name for the fic
Luckly for everyone the fic was erased from the interwebs, though still it lives on in my scarred and blackened heart, constantly reminding me of the dangers of fanfiction.
8. Ixenathier Draconic Magus

So Divine Intervention DOES happen on occasion.

Go read the all the works of Earthscorpion, Academianut and get into a staring contest with a Shogoth. It will help purge the badfic from your heart and mind.

That or drive you so mad that it does not matter. Ether way you should feel better.
9. mdkcde Not good enuff.

I would rather focus all that energy into doing something productive. I do feel inspired to at least try to do something good.

Seeing that no matter how hard I try, I will never be as BAD as the author of that fic.
10. Ixenathier Draconic Magus

That works to, but this has less of a chance of you going insane so less fun on my end of the situation. ;)
11. mdkcde Not good enuff.

I am already insane. Aren't we on Spacebattles after all?
12. Ixenathier Draconic Magus

hmmm, point.

Personally I keep my sanity in a jar on my shelf. Can't loose it that way.
13. Hassam Mad Engineer

Really, In my opinion the people on SB are some of the sanest people I deal with.
14. SmallTips Ally of convenience

Hahaha.

We are the most rational and persuasive sounding. Sane? not so much
15. All in all, sanity is a rather relative term.

We are all insane in the same way, so doesn't that make us sane relative to each other?
16. mdkcde Not good enuff.

Well, I wouldn't mind being your relative Nerv, you sound like a bro.

Unfortunately, I'm kind of an asshole.
17. EarthScorpion A Healing-Type Shadow Cabalite

Look, stop being a bunch of idiots posturing about how crazy you may or may not be, and get back on topic, or I will begin reporting people. It's not big and it's not clever.

*sighs*

I had hoped we'd moved beyond this. No, commoners are not "not people". Commoners are "not nobles". And, no, not all magic users are nobles. I will cite in case of point that the classmates were rather shocked by how Louise was treating Saito as a dog at his worst; they did not act as you would if he was not a person.
18. SmallTips Ally of convenience

The way I see it, commoners are lower class. Useful, but nobles own them and thus should be responsible enough to keep em healthy and working for them.

Not to be used and abused like a whipping post, as Saito was. You don't see maids in the Academy punished like that.
19. dz1 Lost in time and space...

Y'know, this is probably why I'm not particularly fond of the "canon"; because all I know of the canon is probably primarily fanon (or canon filtered through fanon). It's entirely possible that much of what I don't like is fanon.

Huh.
20. Hassam Mad Engineer

So in the end of the day should a familiar have more rights than a commoner, less rights than a commoner or about the same? On one hand the human familiar has the job usually given to an animal, on the other hand they are tied to a noble.
21. EarthScorpion A Healing-Type Shadow Cabalite

It's not actually even that they're owned. By the historical era parallel (and by the fact that Siesta's family can move off the estate), serfdom, although not abolished, has been on the decline (by the comparison to Europe, it started declining with the Black Death and the late mediaeval period in Western Europe [1]) for a while, a few hundred years, say.

From the canon evidence, Siesta, and her family, are peasants, not serfs. They're tenants or possibly small freeholders; they're not tied to the land - hence why Siesta could move to work at the Academy. Hence, they're the social inferiors of the nobility, not the property - of course, Siesta has an indentured contract, so that shifts things again, but that's a property of her employment, not of birth.

[1] Ironically, it begun to rise in Eastern Europe at about the same time, which is believed to have held back the region.
22. NemiTheNen Suddenly Collecting Likes on an OLD Bolo/GG Post

So. I got a message basically begging me to continue the Puck Familiar thing, as such I'm kind wracking my brain for it, as I'm rather flattered. Post should go up eventually on its own, but do any of you want to see anything in it?
23. SmallTips Ally of convenience

People running around with an Ass's head.

All rights except paid labour and the ability to live after dismissal, by my guess.

So, its pretty much clear that they aren't slaves, but the prospects for commoners are low enough for nobility to dismiss them. In Tristan, anyways.
24. gotcha

the old Fool snips were just called Fool, if you want to differentiate them even more just add a DISCONTINUED on them
25. Atreidestrooper The most lowliest trooper of House Atreides

I think it would be interesting to note that Germania(or whatever it is spelled) seems to have some sort of system that allows commoners to buy land and become effectively Nobles, and be counted as such in Germania. While Tristan(or Tristan) nobles pretty much despise this.
