It really, really bears repeating. People argued to the point of infraction....with Hymenbreach. About a porn thread. Half a dozen pages. It boggles the mind. It's like punching a brick wall that has a sign saying, "This is a brick wall. Punching it is pointless."
Speaking of which, I've had another long look and it seems that the whole debate has gone off-topic in some areas, and am disapointed that some people are just wasting posts when they don't know when to stop. This whole debate is going to amount to nothing, as the policy is non-negotiable (for professional reasons + Draconian Add Policies.) All you can hope for is "How much is too much", which is to say a nekkid body is potentially beyond the line (and well beyond if any sexual organs are blatently or barely shown.) Yes, porn is a huge nono. Kier, The Observer, Reaperman, and the rest of the Admins. Heck, ALL the Mods (and super Mods) are against it, for professional reasons. Oh, and did I forgot to mention that Kier made yet another blunt reminder due to the unfortunate trauma he witness in one SB induced Nightmare Fuel Thread when he actually lurked here for a change? That I'm guessing is much worse than your usual 'hotties' thread? Or that it was official policy for a LONG time? Another thing to note is, from what I've gathered, any image hosting site associated with pornography is either loaded with malware if your unlucky (as Thanatos has highlighted) or is NSFW due to association. (If you're unable to host them in a legimate clean image hosting site from imgur/imageshack/photobucket/est due to them being too 'exciting', it's most likely NSFW.) If you have any issues with the forum policy, them you're entirely entitled to make your own NSFW Forum for the NSFW content, but it'd be strictly unofficial/unliked by the Forum Staff, officially unrelated to Spacebattles, a nightmare to moderate aaand more likely to stumble upon legal issues and nightmare fuel due to some people not having restraint when it comes to the 'Animal Boner' threads. Other than wishing we have the 'official name picking guide' back up again to prevent newbies from accidentally picking 1337 names or having NSFW Forum Names *I'm looking at HB's lewd name*, I think it's better to just lock this thread before even more senseless debating and posts clutter here (which could be better spent on MSN/'Conversations' than in an Admin Statement.)
To be fair, that was six years ago and he did say he asked to have his name changed and was denied; he could have matured sense signing up.
take a look back at his attitude when he was called on it shortly after signing up. he hasn't changed since.

Did he provide proof of this? Because I find it highly unlikely he would be denied something so simple as a name change, even without considering the name he was changing.
AFAIK name change requests are made by PM, so proof would be impossible unless the mod(s) he asked spoke up. Maybe he's lying, maybe the mod he asked thought it funny, or that he deserved to live with his choice or something. I dunno. Just seems like an odd thing to lie about, especially in a thread you know staff are reading.
He did try making claims contrary to all evidence contained within a thread which he himself was making the subject. You have to go a long way on SB before you hit what can now truly be called 'odd' anymore.
I don't think this thread has exactly built any faith for the guy either. For fucks sake, its not excessive moralising, and I'm damn sure I'd rather sacrifice the "freedom" to post boobies in favour of SB remaining viable. Its difficult to comprehend the uproar about this from the some folks, until you realise its the usual suspects, driven out of their dark, damp little holes into the light. "stalker members" ? I think this sort of post is illuminating as well. People trying to keep the forum from being plagued by the downsides of what amount to ever more risque picture posting, or even worse, the creepy kiddy fiddler shit of the Psychosama type folks are labelled as "stalker members looking for trouble". You know that this is effectively what Hollewander does as a mod right? Hunts down the terrible stuff people insist on posting, gives em a kicking. This is in no way some sort of moral crackdown, and we will not be remembering this as a sign of the times, when the boobies were driven off the internet by Yankee prudes.
On the Psychosama part, it's more of the "Lolicon" fans than anything else. Otherwise, the SB Mods would prefere actual Fanservice instead of hollow girlservice, especially if it's on Guns. As for what the Mods have to suffer through, I have found memories of what happened briefly when the Moderati where not online, and it resulted in an avalance of Spam. I'm not even going to think on the actual Nightmare Fuel that could tempoary slip through...
In fact, current anal violation measures by the staff are a result of being softly, softly on such subjects before. There's a reason there is/was (no idea if it's still there) an anime forum, and there's a reason it required deliberate membership; because the people posting anime snowballed into producing endless piles of material that had to be locked behind an extra wall. That was the softly, softly approach. People were actually given an arena to play in, and the reward for such leniency eventually turned into the creepy shit white_rabbit mentioned. Lolicons are nothing, compared to what Eldritch Horrors the Mods have to Nuke at times. (The Barge Pole Threads where locked due to SBers being unable to restrain themselves from being Drama Queens, but the Nightmares reviewed within those texts are far worse than what Psychosama would dream of getting away with.)
Are any of the Mods, Super Mods, or Admins even from the US? I think I've heard that Kier and one other bigwig are from somewhere in Britain. At least a couple of mods from what I recall live or have lived in Britain as well. Primer, from what I understand lives in the Netherlands. Also, aren't one or two mods from Canada or somewhere.
Yeah, a couple of them are from the US. Thanatos and CommanderRazor are the first ones I can name off the top of my head. I think Cool Guy is from the US as well.
