At best Alex is going to have three Hunters running around. Eventually he'll develop them into something capable of making one of Greene's Leader Hunters seem like a cute puppy. What I have in mind would be: an additional pair of upper limbs, the ability to spew all kinds of nasty stuff, one of those being the necrotizing viral agent Alex used in the last snip, and maybe some minor variation of Alex' Groundspike, as well as a rudimentary form of the Whipfist. Anyway, like the fist of an angry god, it comes your way:
the "nobody touches dana" line seems to come out of nowhere, dana isn't even in sunnydale is she? nowhere near California, so what does she have to do with anything? then i realised that the "master" is makeing threats against the entire world, ha! methinks your grasp exceeds your reach "master" if he could barely kill one slayer, not to mention that his vampire crony's are kinda weak... compared to later "big bads" he just doesnt seem like he has that it takes to pose a threat on a national Level, never mind global. also, the "unless i allow it" just sounds wrong, like an offer to pimp his sister out or something. change it to something about not letting the vampire situation get out of hand (blackwatch might get involved, that would end badly) or just "sick of this sit, lets kill all the vampire pests at the source" i know dana is the only human alex cares about, but she is miles away, theres no reason to bring her into every conversation, even "nobody threatens Dana" would be better, if you absolutely HAVE to mention her
A viral spray? You're kidding right? That's just ASKING for some of the virus, even a tiny tiny fraction of it, to somehow get left behind during a battle (large or small). If anything, go the Smoker (Left For Dead) method - a super long 'sticky' tongue, either with or without a spiked tip. If they lose it, it's still likely big enough that Mercer can reabsorb the bio-mass without much problem. And even then, if the hunter loses it, give it a minute without injury and it'll have regenerated it almost entirely and be ready to go slaughter some more. BTW, ever thought of combining the Hammerfists with the Claws? Super-dense muscle mass plus having several largethick sharpened spikes at the tips.
Eh, Musclemass + Claws. Alex won't just gib people, he'll gib tanks if that's even possible. Musclemass makes everything better.
Even though they're almost an entire continent apart, Alex takes the safety of his sister very, very seriously. He's not going to let some nutcase vampire threaten Dana if he can prevent it. The Master and the Order of Aurelius, in a nutshell, are largely about this: This is what they are planning to do, according to 'The Master': Alex really does not like the implications of that. Consider it done. Hmm... you would be right. Consider that idea scrapped. *Double facepalm*
Don't worry about it. It's pretty much a natural idea (and would be helva effective as well). It just runs into problems if it's Mercer who's creating a Hunter, considering his absolute hatred of the idea of letting the virus loose. Now on the other hand, if Wolfram & Hart somehow got their hands on a Hunter and decided to 'feed' it a few things.....
Hmm... I was thinking about letting most of the events of the 'Pack' episode take place behind the scenes but then I thought screw it, let's just see what I can do with it. Ain't gonna hurt anyone, right? Mostly interlude in context, I'm afraid. Sorry.
And so Buffy's carrier in the exiting field of genetics begins. Oh, and you do know that after this Willow will find original Alex Mercer? There aren't that many PhDs around.
Yeah, she probably would. But since the original human Alex Mercer is a social recluse and completely focused on top-secret genetic viral modification research, I don't think she's going to find the past human version of him.
Yes, but she still should be able to find the basic info. ALex Mercer, PhD in Genetics, PhD thesis "***", graduated from, has a sister, disappeared from public records on ...
When did the events of prototype happen. Also alex has made another person into something like him. thats the whole purpose of prototype 2. Also how old was the orginal Alex Mecer in prototype. For all we know he could be a Teenager in the late 90's.
Let's see... - The events of Prototype (1) take place in 2008. Alex sends the comatose Dana to the other side of the U.S. after preventing the nuke from vaporizing most of New York. Prototype II takes place fourteen months after the first game's ending. Which gives the temporally displaced Alex something upward of twelve years and a few months to find a solution for his problems. - The events of Buffy the Vampire Slayer the TV series take place from the year 1997 till somewhere in 2003. - The original human Alex Mercer was born in the year 1979, which would make the human version of him somewhere around 17-18 years old at this point in time, and 28-29 years old during the events of the first game. Since he's described as a genius in his line of work, I think it would be realistic for me to say that the human Alex is currently in his second year at Columbia University. ...That's going to cause problems for Alex at some point in the future, heh.
Question. Why doesn't he just nom the hunter for biomass and make a new one later? It would be easier to upgrade if it was "docked" so to speak?
The most likely reason he doesn't do so is that it takes him a huge amount of effort to push it out into its own body and on top of that, he's trying to evolve it separately from himself too. At least that's my impression.
If any of the eventually triad of Hunters get too heavily damaged or unstable or any of a number of other things, Alex will consume it back into himself, find out its flaws and come up with a way to deal with those, if possible, before he spawns a replacement.
I am now having the visual image of Mercer putting up a sign: 'Beware of the dog' 'No, really. I mean it.'
You know i could see if Xander got hurt bad enough that Alex could turn him into something similar to himself. As far as I know the guy he did it to in prototype to was actually the orginal guy.
Yes, but he would have no reason to. I could see could see him using his powers to keep him alive, maybe, but Mercer's Shtick is don't spreed the virus.
While I don't think it should be done (at least not in this story), Mercer did in fact break that rule to save someones life. Hence the plot of Prototype 2, in which a vengeful Marine that Mercer infected (to save his life), goes on his vengeance quest against Mercer. I'm pretty sure it was because Mercer was impressed....or something. Shrug.
Hmm, very interesting, potentially quite valuable development. Hyena is backing down from Alex, who she acknowledges as superior to her. This may lead to Xander keeping it, after getting it under control (since it knows that if it misbehaves, Alex will om-nom-nom it). This makes him a formidable hand-to-hand fighter, gives him sensory upgrade, maybe (I am not sure) boosts his regeneration. Also, even Xander still has troubles with controlling it, Giles in this TL is far more likely to do some binding rather than banishing, due to the need for additional firepower. And the second part is also interesting. Was Warren in the same high school as Scoobies? If so, his development would be influenced by the cool mr. Mercer, PhD in genetics. Also, the question for the future: will Alex be able (and willing) to synthesize some sort of cure for lycanthropy?
Impressed, yes. Heller tried to kill Alex, personally, in the middle of the Red Zone, alone, with a knife. A goddamn knife. Because when he finally met Mercer face to face, there wasn't anything else on hand. It's one thing to take on horrible superstrong virus tentacle monsters when you are one yourself, but if you're just a regular squishy human who doesn't even have a gun? Even if you get crushed like a bug, they'd award you a place in Valhalla just for your sheer ballsiness. This is seriously the canon explanation. We don't why Mercer needed to infect someone, but that's why he specifically chose Heller.
Somehow I can't seem to get the context as to why Xander is suddenly pissed off with Mercer. Does it have something to do with what the Hunter ate?
