US Supreme Court Refuses to Hear File-Sharing Appeal

Discussion in 'Non Sci-fi Debates' started by Lord Squishy, May 21, 2012.

  1. Okay, no one was ever debating that so far as I can see. Certainly not me at any rate.
  2. Felidae Sola Scriptura

Irrelevant. Say a guy confesses to a murder. That in and of itself is not enough evidence - as it has happened in the past that people have deliberately confessed to crimes they did not commit, as (iirc) in the case of the kidnapping & murder of Charles Lindbergh's child. Now if there is a description of a person of the same general height and build in the area at the time the murder happened, that would corroborate the confession and make it strong enough to stand in court, even if said evidence by itself would not be enough to obtain a conviction.
  3. I'm pretty sure I'd have a breakdown and start killing anyone associated with the RIAA, if I ever got hit with a judgement above 20,000. At that point they'd be taking years of life away from me and I'd have to return the favor. I don't download though, so the hypothetical should never occur.
  4. You and me both.
  5. dacis2 Civil Service Aspirant

That's pretty much what it's going to take to scare them, a guy storming RIAA HQ and killing the executives.
