Welcome to NERV (Evangelion RP)

Welcome to the year 2014. Sadly, it's not all that it's been cracked up to be - in the year 2000, a massive meteorite hit Antarctica, vaporizing much of the continent. The resultant catastrophe killed off a good portion of the human race and set back scientific progress for some time.

Since then, the United Nations has emerged as the dominant world government. Mainly due to their efforts, the death toll was not nearly as high as it could have been. After several years, things settled down, and people gradually returned to life as normal. Mostly. Not all has been well. In the wake of the massive tidal waves and tectonic shifts, there came... other things. There are rumors of great beasts stirring in the depths, of strange creatures prowling the deep forests, of odd occurrences unexplainable by human science. Here and there, cultists proclaim the second coming of dead gods, although they are quickly silenced.

Thankfully, all incidents to date have been minor, and, up till now, the UN military has managed to contain everything with minimal loss of life. More disturbingly, there are rumors that these small-scale occurrences indicate the presence of an even greater threat. Since then, however, the world government has not been idle - they have built gigantic biomechanical war machines known as Evangelion in preparation to combat this threat of unknown nature.

We can only hope that it is enough.

A note to the players:

This game is based on the wonderful world of Neon Genesis Evangelion, and draws heavily from the associated RPG Adeptus Evangelion. However, no knowledge of either the show or the roleplaying game will be required to participate.

You, as a player, will be playing as either the pilot of an Evangelion, or the Operations Director who supports them on the battlefield.

Of course, this being Evangelion, at some point, characters are likely to have some sort of mental breakdown. Proper roleplaying, then, is heavily encouraged, and bonuses will be dispensed as appropriate.

There will only ever be one Operations Director. In the beginning of the game, there will be three pilots. However, depending on player actions and in-game events, there may eventually be a need for another Operations Director, or more pilots.

Players will be chosen based on the quality and reasonability of their profile. This will NOT be first come, first served. Thank you for your understanding.

Personal History: Lucky enough to be born to a family with a high income, in a country that was mostly spared by the impact, Jack should be living a happy life. Unfortunately for him, he never got along well with anyone he's met, and, as a result, calling him a social outcast would be an understatement. He instead retreated to the world of thought. Libraries, TVs, music, and the internet are the closest things in his life to "friends". Knowledge about the history of Somalia doesn't make up for unhappiness however. Jack's isolation has lead to him hating the world and becoming extremely narcissistic. Maybe piloting a giant robot monster against other giant monsters in suicide missions is what he needs? Or not...

"Survivor" is not one of the available backgrounds for pilot. Other than that, mechanically, it looks fine. I'll wait for you to fill in a personal history before passing judgment.

That could be fun. Do I have to be like... an old person, or can I be a 14 year old, or should I be something in between or what?

Apearance: Brown skin, Average Height, Black hair and eyes.

Personal History: Born in a normal well-off family Al live a simple and content life. Preferring to do things at his own pace unfortunately made it hard for him to work with others. So instead he went to reading books and observing others giving him an open-mind after seeing the good and bad traits of people around him. He sees piloting the EVA and fighting monsters to be an interesting experience but also dangerous and necessary. Still he feels that he can only do what he can.

Question, what will the Operations Director do other than supporting them on the battlefield?

Stop us from killing ourselves, duh.

He/she will be responsible for managing the fallout from collateral damage, as well as determining the nature of which upgrades (if any) the individual Evangelion units get.

Furthermore, there will be the opportunity for personal-scale combat, and the Operations Director (and the Bridge Bunnies, if any) automatically start out proficient with firearms, whereas the pilots do not.

A couple of grammar issues, but that's mostly just me nitpicking. Obviously, the more detailed the bio, the better, but for now, it seems fine.

No problem. Your choice of position - if I end up with empty slots, I can simply use NPCs, after all.
