Plotting the takeover of Spacebattles
Wonder Waffle World Main Thread, 1910

The year is 1910 and the two nations of Xosmaria and Lethosia have finally declared war after years of tensions. These two nations occupy islands in the North Atlantic, in between North America and Europe. The field of battle has begun on the islands of Atrar, Clayrus, Aspyaera and the Triton Archipelago.

You may decide the cultures of your nations in your nations in your threads.

In this game you will be building regular techs but there will be a little stretching of physics. Expect Nazi and/or Sovietsuperscience.

Actions: Every turn you will be allowed to create a single design and make a revision to a previous creation. Design credits, Revision credits, and even Expense Credits will be given out in special events. At the beginning of every 5-year period you will also be able to create a secret project, according to what you roll.

1- Common/Rare Soldier Weapon (Low-Yield Laser Rifles for everyone! Or... Power Armor for a few)

2- Genetic Manipulation (Supersoldiers, Monsters, or Magical Girls)

3- Machine (Ooh, mechs!)

4- Land Vehicle (What? How? A ball tank?)

5- Air/Sea Vehicle (An open-cockpit jet fighter?)

6- Single-Use Superweapon (Hey, where'd the island go?)

You may also select 1 island to invade and begin fighting on every turn (Not required, at all). If you do not reselect the area you are invading your troops will pull out, you only have to keep reselecting it until you capture it.

Expense Levels: For every resource you are missing for an invention it's price will increase a level, and for surplus it will go down.

Cheap, Very Common, Common, Expensive, Very Expensive, The US can afford a single one.

[Complex] Adds an expense level.

This year Lethosia introduced the properly named Breech-Loading Infantryman's Rifle, this weapon is favored by snipers in the Lethosian Military and is very popular as a hunting rifle.

Xosmaria introduced the Maria 1910 Bolt-Action Rifle, initial problems in development ended up with the weapon not firing at times but this was fixed. It still uses blackpowder which necessitates the cleaning of the barrel. What it doesn't have in accuracy however it makes up by having 5 rounds to shoot before the soldier has to stop to reload.

Combat on Atrar: The age of cavalry charges is coming to an end, the flat and open lands of Atra have led to the beginning of trench warfare, before it was popularized during WW1. Things that work well on flatland do better here. (Lethosia 1/2, Xosmaria 1/2)

Combat on Triton Archipelago:
The rocky passes of the Triton Archipelago have led to battles being fought in small skirmishes of a few dozen people rather than hundreds or thousands. In close quarters the Maria 1910 does well due to less need to reload, while the Breech-Loading Infantryman Rifle is doing better over long distances and even medium range. Very hilly and rocky area. Advantageous to snipers. (Lethosia 1/3 Xosmaria 1/3)

Combat on Clayrus:
As on Atrar trench warfare has gotten popular. Muddy land in the battlefields, disease is prevalent. (Lethosia 1/2 Xosmaria 1/2)

Combat on Aspyaera:
With the great many creeks and rivers here, soldiers have taken to using rowboats more often to attempt to maneuver around the enemy. Many rivers, amphibious transports will be useful here. (Lethosia 1/2 Xosmaria 1/2)

Combat on the Seas:
At a stalemate, both teams have the same equipment.

SHOW NATIONALISTIC PRIDE:
Create a flag for your country, whichever I judge to be better will get a reroll token given to their team.

So who gained ground, and where, exactly? Just to be clear.

Fighting has just begun on the initial four islands so they've met up somewhere in the middle, things will start shifting more in the favor of one side in different areas once you start making more tech. I also gave a few hints on what'll be useful in the Battle Report.

Know fear and despair, Xosmarian scum! Superior Lethosian engineering will be your downfall! You can't even fire your rifles without creating a smokescreen for us to advance under! Your guns are vulnerable to fouling and mud and are as unreliable as your courage!

This year, noble Lethosia will claim the field!

Fah! Xosmarians and courage in the same sentence? You must have had a bit too much to drink, friend! Clearly the Xosmarians are too busy stuffing their face with burgers to see their impending demise at the hand of our mighty weapons!

Er... Gunther is keep seeing your name in the veiwer list in the xosmaria thread are you lurking or are you on the other side?

On my cell so i can't get a screen shot....

I was actually checking to make sure I knew what culture you guys used. :p I'd hate to insult you by claiming you're French when you're inferior USA scoundrels.

I might also debate switching sides given the disproportionate manpower on each side, but I still want to give a little bit of time on the matter of getting more people on the Xosmarian side of the fence.

As of right now there is only 2 people but i was the only one to make our current design, haven't seen my partner since i revised our rifle and named it maria so i can have some one to talk to..

I'll give it a few more days before hopping over. These threads can have relatively spotty involvement from people, seeing as not everyone's on all the time. :p

Last time i seen any kind of design thread on space battle or it's sister thread sufficient velocity was 2 years ago it was a space colony quest and they were making 3d modles of their colony using Autocad last i checked.

I'm writing up the battle phase soon, you guys can discuss what types of things you'll need in the coming turns.

This year Lethosia introduced the Thundergun, a long-range and very accurate artillery piece able to bombard enemies. They have also refitted their Ironclads to use these weapons.

Xosmaria also introduced an artillery piece of their own, the M1 75mm Cannon, though it is more direct fire than for bombardments. They made up for this by creating HE and Fragmentation shells which are terrifying to Lethosia soldiers.

Combat on Atrar: The Thundergun has done well here to flush out Xosmarians from the trenches but the M1 75mm Cannon has been able to destroy Lethosian fortifications. (Lethosia 1/2, Xosmaria 1/2)

Combat on Triton Archipelago:
The M1 75mm is at an advantage here because it is able to destroy opposing artillery quickly with it's HE shells once it enters sight of it, the HE shells are also easily able to tear through enemy ranks. Very hilly and rocky area. Advantageous to snipers. (Lethosia 1/3 Xosmaria 2/3)

Combat on Clayrus:
Bombardments are the order of the day, with such flat land even the M1 75mm cannon is able to perform bombardments. Muddy land in the battlefields, disease is prevalent. (Lethosia 1/2 Xosmaria 1/2)

Combat on Aspyaera:
Due to the Thunderclads, Lethosia has obtained an advantage here. Many rivers, amphibious transports will be useful here. (Lethosia 1.5/2 Xosmaria 0.5/2)

Combat on the Seas:
In the favor of Lethosia as they have introduced their Thunderclads. Thunderclads however are fearful to go near beaches as they are many times torn apart by HE shells.

SHOW NATIONALISTIC PRIDE: So far only one nation has submitted a flag, I shall wait for another turn to see if the other team submits their own.

So are the battle report posts and opening going to end up threadmarked for ease of 'actually being able to find them when this game starts getting 10+ pages in the main thread' or is something else going to happen?

So what culture the nations have? I'm leaning towards Xosmaria but I don't want to go into either thread before choosing.

This year the Lethosians decided to take a looksie at some of the captured ammo caches of the Xosmarians and created some of their own variable ammo types. These include the terrifying HE and Fragmentation shells along with the war-crimeriffic poison gas shells.

The Xosmarians this year got a little fearful of the Lethosian navy's might and commissioned the XPNS President Class Warship, a completely rebuilt ironclad using 30 of their new 75mm guns and screws to propel itself. They also fixed their 75mm guns and are now able to perform bombardments.

Combat on Atrar:
Things are at even more of a stalemate now with both sides having variable ammo and performing artillery strikes, but the Lethosians are currently at an advantage and will capture this island next turn if things don't change. (Lethosia +1/2, Xosmaria 1/2)

Combat on the Triton Archipelago:
Lethosia is now able to push back the Xosmarian tide with their new-fangled explosive and poisonous shells. Xosmarian officers lament the lack of an option to counteract the deadly Lethosian fumes. (Lethosia 1.5/3, Xosmaria 1.5/3)

Combat on Clayrus:
Due to rampant disease Xosmarian officers aren't really surprised when many of the soldiers they lead start dropping dead. Sadly enough disease also starts tearing through Lethosian ranks, though many claim that they only got sick after being attacked by shadowy men, Lethosian doctors dismiss this as they ravings of dying men and the rumors spreading around. (Lethosia 1/2, Xosmaria 1/2)

Combat on Aspyaera:
Victory for Lethosia! Soldiers celebrate with swims in the rivers and they cut down both trees and animals to fuel their feasting. Fortifications are being built. (Lethosia gains +1 Material X, Morale drops on other fronts as they receive news of the partying on Aspyaera.)

Combat on the Seas:
With the swiftness of the President class vessels Xosmarians are able to sink ships using their HE shells and get away before being attacked themselves. Though the President class does have to worry about being caught off guard due to their having a lower numbers of guns compared to the 30-gun broadsides of the Thunderclads.

SHOW NATIONALISTIC PRIDE!: Victory goes to the Lethosians. They receive a Reroll Token.
